The Truth of Christianity vs. All Other Belief Systems

KK, would you please answer this?

He doesn't? Let's look at this. According to you, Jews are going to Hell, right? Because they don't accept Jesus as their savior.

But God chose the Jews as His people. He made a covenant with them for all time.

So did He lie to the Jews? Did he not really mean they were His people?

Or - and here is the question that ought to scare the fundies out of you - did He change his mind? Did He first tell the Jews that they were His people, then change the rules after Jesus' little trip to Terra? And if God can change His mind once, then what's to keep Him from doing it again - to you? What if, just before the Tribulations come, God says, "Just fooling! It was really the Buddhists all along"? And what if He says, "And it's not Heaven after all. I think that Nirvana idea sounds like a good one"?

Because you can't have it both ways. Either God doesn't lie, and the covenant with the Jews still stands, and they are his people; or he does lie, and you can't trust a word you've been taught.

Or the whole damn thing is a lie.

(...and just in case KK has me on ignore, would someone please quote it? Thanks!)

Nothing ventured, nothing gained

However, it seems that KK has resolutely failed to read (let alone respond to) any of my recent posts :(

Well aren't we glad we can pray and ask God to change hearts and save souls?

We? Is there more than one of you Kathy? This is a serious question that I don't think you'll seriously realize.

We must remember that we are not the ones who can save anybody, it's Jesus who saves, we just try to point the way for others so they can get free from the bondage of sin.

We again? Do you see anyone here taking you seriously, Kathy? Take a look around and count them.

As for th OP topic on the Truth of Christianity, I like what Mark Driscoll says here on Jesus verses religion... http://www.squidoo.com/marshillsermons you need to scroll down to the you tube and press play. I would really like to here what you thought of this message as it does pertain to the topic of this thread?

Nope. Since you disregard any material that's offered for you to read, why should anyone care to read what you suggest?

I found it rather confusing, and not very much related to the original topic of the thread. The original topic dealt with the subject of how we can examine whether Christianity is true, and how it compares to all other belief systems. The sermon you linked simply asserted that there was this fellow named Jesus who was very, very, important.

Kathy may deserve slamming, but I just don't think she is capable of a serious response. Even if she reads it, you won't get more than a line or two of unrelated preachiness.

Oh, I know - I've asked the same question of both her and doc before. I'm really just kind of fascinated to see what kind of sidestep she will do to get away from it.

God (with James Earl Jones voice): "I have ALTERED our agreement. Pray I do not alter it further."

Perhaps off topic, and perhaps referred to elsewhere in the forum, but I think the following may have some bearing on the topic, in that the research, such as it is (in its infancy) is showing that religiosity and beliefs in the supernatural may well be the product of what we do with our brains, and that whether one is a Buddhist monk or a devout Christian experiencing an ecstatic feeling, the brain reflects this in some observable way. That is to say, there are certain "spiritual" experiences one may have and they all originate pretty much in the same way and what meaning one puts on those experiences, eg, Nirvana, Christian "grace, etc, is entirely culturally derived.

Definitly James Earl Jones voice, but God and Jesus are both white guys, not even middle eastern descent, I've seen it in the movies, it must be true!

Well, of course God would have a James Earl Jones voice. And speak in KJV English.

Duh. :p

Which is of course confirmed by Levi known as Biff, in Lamb.

"Then God said 'This is CNN'."

and somewhat unrelated but from same source.

"And then, and not for the last time, the prince of peace cold-cocked me."
