The 25 fulfilled prophecies of Isaiah chapter 53

Those are some nice ad homs, but at least you made one reference to this thread. And some of your ad homs are false statements with regard to me, but I'm not going to follow you and get off topic (not this early in the thread anyway). If people who don't know me want to get an idea of my posts there are about 820 of them in the thread I mentioned in post #1.

Actually, no ad hom involved here. just ridicule. I'm not saying that your argument is false, or invalid or in any other way wrong. (Well, other than the whole baby=unattractive thing) I'm just giving the peanut gallery a chance to enjoy themselves while the impotent slogging occurs. And since all the items on my list are behaviors you have engaged in throughout your [insert number here] posts that you so proudly tout, you can't get me on being unfair. I have found you to be a dishonest poster and not worthy of polite consideration. If you care to change you behavior, I'll be willing to change my response to you. Until then, anything you post will be treated as a joke and responded to in kind.

So, we got a swig for misuse of logical fallacy, a reference to his post count and a sniff of the bottle for a "post of no value" implication. Keep this up and we'll be plastered by the end of page 1.

I'm at work and therefore can only drink coffee.

I'm SO wired right now and it's barely gotten going.
Oh, I see!

You're that designated driver who suggest everyone else gets into a drinking game, aren't you!

It's good to have a dd if you're gonna get that plastered! :D

On a completely related note, I'm so happy to see yet another DOC thread starting. I'm going to start a DOC drinking game. Take a drink of the beverage of your choice whenever any of the following are posted by DOC.
My Liver is screaming at you!!!!

Ooh, I'm in. Can I wait until tonight though, when I actually have beer? Or would playing this game retrospectively result in a trip to the hospital?

DOC, seriously.
Why would anyone be impressed that a book written hundreds of years after another book would claim to fullfill things in the older book?

Have you ever heard of Fan Fiction?

About 819 of which are a count of how many posts you've made in that thread.

[yeah, I know it's not really true, it just feels true]

So, I should stop waiting for Ragnarok? butbutbut the Fenris wolf....he's gonna break that dinky lil' chain...:cry1

Christians believe Christ is part of the Godhead (Trinity). One can say Christ will see those who believe (his children) and prolong them (eternal life).
So, let's try this:
1.) Jesus is god
2.) According to the bible, Jesus condones slavery
3.) Slavery is Amoral
Therefore: God is amoral.

Is it your contention that an amoral god fulfilled the prophecies?

There is no copy and paste, it's Isaiah Chapter 53 as it was written. "New International Version". And this was the same Isaiah 53 that was found in the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Erm, ok, I was unclear... can you point me to a link where I can download the text. I am in India at the moment and finding the correct bible (not to mention the Dead Sea Scrolls) is a little hard.

Normally when you have several pieces of literature and you have one of these alluding (or referring or whatever) to an older one, you do not end up with the conclusion that there is something magical, mystical going on. (And that is already under the assumption that there actually is something beside word or story mangling.)

DOC, what do you think is going to happen here? Even if you manage to convince anyone somehow that there is any merit in your argument you will have done is got them to believe that somebody, somehow, accurately predicted something that was going to happen. How do you think this gets you any closer to convincing me or anyone else that the prediction means they should believe certain other things or behave in a certain way?

This isn’t the first domino in a chain of dominoes. It’s one domino standing alone on a vast, empty plane, and the only way you’re going to push it over anyway – as you’ve been told literally thousands of times – is by convincing people to swallow at least one logical fallacy – either begging the question, or accepting an argument from authority or popularity etc. etc.

So I’m genuinely curious. What, in your most optimistic fantasies, do you think all your work here and in all the other threads is accomplishing?

On a more informative point:

Most scholars hold the quoted passages (part of the for "Songs of the Suffering Servant", Isa.42:1-4 , 49:1-6 , 50:4-9 and 52:13 -53:12) to begin at Isaiah 52:13.
Accordingly, here is the beginning of the song...

Isaiah 52
13 Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.
14 As many were astonished at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
15 So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.

I will also point out that the Jews view the servant in these songs as being the nation of Israel.
In fact, Isaiah 49:3 identifies Israel explicitly.
And said to me, You are my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

Oh, and you might want to compare Isaiah 53 with Mosiah 14.
