Las Vegas has a bunch of decent sushi places, although I couldn't find any near the South Pointe. One of my favorites is a little hole in the wall at Bally's. It has very fresh fish, a good variety, and is relatively inexpensive. My Mom and I went there twice last year, and are planning to go at least once this year. We will have a car and would be happy to go with a group.

Mind you, she is known for doing things like putting those baby octopi on the end of her tongue and flailing it around to try and gross people out.

I took Patricio to the one in the Stardust and he enjoyed it. And as long as the bill doesn't get too crazy I'm always up for sushi.

During TAM 2 IIRC, we went to a place that served paella and I made one my octupuses dance for the gal sitting next to me.

She didn't appreciate it.

I got a job today and showed them my itinerary for our flights to TAM and explained it was a scholarship with non-refundable tickets, and they said that would be fine! I can work AND go to TAM7!

Yes, it seems there will, if the Australians Going To TAM facebook page is anything to go by (I joined that page last night).

I'm actually spending a week in LA prior to the actual event - it seemed a bit not-right to be flying to the USA just for the weekend. So I'm arranging to do some cool stuff before TAM - La Brea Tarpits, San Diego Zoo, Hollywood... All thanks to the awesome folks here on the JREF Forums!

I know for a fact some of the people in the group are not going to TAM (or are going to TAM but are not Australians, I'm looking at you Phil Plait), but then there are surely Australians going to TAM who are not in the group. I think I definately know of about a dozen. Pretty impressive considering the distance and costs. Yay us.
