Waterboarding Rocks!

It surprises me that after Nova land completely and methodically dismantled your position that you are going to dust it off and run it past Varwoche?

My aren't you the impatient one. I'll get around to dealing with NL but given the volume of his posting, it may take a day or so. And besides, look how long it took him to respond to my posts. Perhaps he was just waiting for my posts ... to as you say ... "drop off the page" and "rerun" his arguments.

By the way Fool, are you ever going to address my question to you in post #927? Or are you going to just keep running? :D

No, you won't respond to his posts

ROTFLOL! If you haven't learned by now, Fool, you are never going to learn. I always respond to substantive posts. But at least give me time to do so. You on the other hand have been clearly avoiding my question to you. I guess I "owned" you, fool. :D

Americans already give nearly twice the figure you specify in foreign aid per annum, and it is reasonable to assume that a large tranche of that does indeed come from wealthy people who are not rabid xenophobes and who are not devoid of a social conscience. Curiously enough, the world still has problems.

Now, could I remind you once again that the subject you're meant to be talking nonsense about is waterboarding.

Well for heaven sakes? Why then is there still world hunger if as you democrats claim, all it takes is money?

Guess you didn't notice that Upchurch AND YOU introduced this diversion. But then there are a lot of things that escape you. :D

Perhaps it takes a little more money than your calculations showed.

There are a lot of completely untrue things of which I am unaware. Heck, I didn't even notice the monkeys flying out of my butt.

Now, please resume being wrong about waterboarding.

Well for heaven sakes? Why then is there still terrorism if as you claim, all it takes is a little temporary pain and discomfort?

So, varwoche, where do you stand with regards to my question?

If you had in your custody a person who had previously killed thousands of Americans in a plot of horrendous proportions, who was high up in an organization that very likely had other plots under way that might kill thousands more Americans ... plots that might be nearing completion because the person was boasting that "soon" you would see the results of them, and this person had resisted all conventional interrogation attempts for months to get him to reveal the nature of those plots and who was involved in them, would you waterboard him?
I reject the 'ticking bomb' scenario as so hypothetical that you might as well ask me what I'd do if space aliens showed up at my front door. That's one reason I think waterboarding should be illegal.

Still, I'll play make believe and answer your question: If the scenario were to happen, and I'm the interrogator, and waterboarding is illegal, and the bomb is about to blow... I think I'd waterboard and then turn myself in for prosecution.

No you won't....

I already responded to the question. I actually spent a deal more time than this sort of question deserves. The old "if you could save 100,000 lives would you XXXX" question... My response, as you missed it, was.....

"If you could prevent the moon from being knocked out of orbit and crashed into the earth by a Giant lazer would you allow a mind probe on Evil emperor varg???"

I'm guessing that my response was a bit too subtle for someone who keeps trying to sell their perpetual motion machine even though it has ground to a halt whenever it has been demonstrated.....ooops, being subtle again.

But anyway....would you allow the mind probe on Varg?

Take all the time you want....but you won't respond. Trust me.... You don't want another experience like that , it can really sap your faith....

I've rewritten BAC's favorite question to make it more popular...

"If it would save 100,000 lives would you drink a cold beer?"

Not at all. I'm pointing out the fallacy of your "torture or a hundred thousand die" tactic. You don't seem to want to discuss it's failings, so I presented the same argument back to you in a way that you would understand.

So you spent a good amount of post explaining how a simple question of "steal or a million people die" cannot possibly be reflective of a real world solution. Do you see how the same is true of your simple question of "torture or a hundred thousand die"? Perhaps it is neither a fair nor an honest question, but a "Gotcha!" question devoid of merit?

would you support the waterboarding of pigs who have information about the swine flu? Come on people....you know a little discomfort to a few pigs is nothing compared to the impact of a pandemic and even careful and methodical questioning is unlikely to get meaningful results..

This is true. I tried asking some pigs about swine flu and all I got was a seeming-smirk in their beady eyes and the odd snort.

They were TOTALLY holding out on me.

I would even go so far as to say they were "defiant".

Good for you. We are of like mind. And apparently in the minority on this thread. :D

I see nothing wrong with my math. And you haven't pointed out anything. You are just waving your hands, DA ... as usual.
I have pointed out that Americans alone (and they are by no means the only donor country) give more money in foreign aid than the sum you calculated, and yet the world still has problems.

Now, would you like to be wrong about waterboarding?

Do you agree that it should be illegal? If not, then I'm not sure you are of like mind. Certainly that is not an aspersion I should cast on the intellect and morality of varwoche without a great deal more evidence than I have so far seen.
