Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

Makes no difference

In fact, none of your posts have made a difference

Your entire involvement on this site represents a mammoth, comprehensive compendium of FAIL

When someone goes from being a drug addict to drug free, or goes from someone who uses a lot of profanity to using none, and claims it was done through the power of Jesus, what evidence do you have that it is not Jesus. Christ did say the Kingdom of God does not come through observation but is within you.
Doc, Narconon get people off drugs. Is that proof of scientology? What evidence do you have that Xenu did not cure them?

To answer this question you must see others who say they know Jesus and ask them how he has changed their lives. That's your job not mine. Jesus changes a person for the better and he doesn't quit the good work he has started in every believer.

Sorry, I wanted evidence, not delusional anecdote. And it isn't my job to find evidence to support your assertion.

You have no evidence it is not Jesus, but the person who experiences the change does have evidence. Your opinion of their experience and their unobservable evidence (as Christ stated) is irrelevant.
Solipcistic, post-modernist nonsense. The last defense of the religious, mentally lazy and anti-science philosophers. Nothing beats the complete and utter uselessness of their belief system.

While science marches on via empirical evidence, these mental throwbacks will continue to smile and gloat as modernity leaves them behind.

And many people get off drugs or stops using profanity when they convert to Islam.

Is this proof that Mohammed is the one true prophet and Allah the one true god?

DOC, you see the problem is that Christianity is not at all unique in it's ability to save people from self-destrucive behavior.

Muslims claim the same thing (Even Cat Stevens felt it was superior to christianity in this regard)
Scientologists claim the same thing.
mormons claim the same thing.
hindus can claim the same thing.
Some motivational seminars can do the same thing..
so on and so on.

They can't all be true, can they?
The evidence is that none of the methods are special in the able to save people, but rather that people attribute significance to things that aren't significant. Sometimes isn't the setting and situation that's important, and not the truth of the message.

Luke 17: 20 (Christ speaking)

The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Again: personal testimony versus quantifiable evidence.

Granted: the behavior is quantifiable, yet the motivation is just as easily attributed to Ibriham or FSM as it is to Yeshua.

ETA

Or some times a nice rack is enough motivation…

You have no idea what "evidence" is, do you ?

It truly is astonishing when Jesus saves a person, not just heresay.

Anecdotes. That's all you have, and believers in other religions have their own.

Based on your testimony Jesus didn't save you at all. You just decided to believ in him and it's the cuddly feeling that's keeping you going. In other words he did squat.

Of course, the fact that he doesn't exist might have something to do with that.

No way. Jesus pulled me from the pit I got myself in and He gave me a new beginning.
You gave yourself a new beginning, and the people around you let you. See one of the main reasons people can't change is because the people they know will not let them, they don’t believe they can change. Now they have an excuse, you think and they think Jesus helped you. That they will except, but you doing it on your own they won’t. So now you can't even give yourself any credit for starting over, and that is terrible thing and a terrible thing that those around you will not tell you that because they need that Jesus thing too. They and your Jesus do not make you stronger, they only weaker KK, I feel sorry that you can’t take the credit for yourself.

I don't think KK will grasp the idea of falsifiability ....
Just a hunch... I could be wrong ....

Tell you what, let's make another challenge out of this. I will give you another book to read/listen to, this time on science and how it works (I am thinking one of Stephen Jay Gould's collections of essays would be appropriate). If you can demonstrate that you have read the essay of my choice, I will read your book and offer a critique. Once you accept, I will start a new thread over in R&P to discuss this.

You should know judging by the last challenge that I will uphold my end of the bargain. Will you?
Oh yes, how about one of the "Reflections in Natural history" ones? I don't believe she will do it, after seeing the results of your last challenge, but it could make for a good thread.

Anyone else remember Dumbo (the character from the animated film) and the feather?

No way. Jesus pulled me from the pit I got myself in and He gave me a new beginning. When we accept him he comes to live in us and we become more like him. I could never have made the changes myself, and believe me I had tried for years. I on my own am unable. It's only through Christ that I can do all things, especially walk away from a life of sin. Do you really think that is an easy thing to do? People get very comfortable in our sin it's really hard to surrender our will to Gods. Jesus gives us the abilbity to live a more Godly life. His righteousness, NOT mine. Christ in me my hope of glory!
So you are too weak to live a good life?

That also means that people who can do it without the god 'illusion' are actually a lot stronger then you.

I'm sorry KK, but I do not believe you on this point.

Can you give an example of a scientific theory that you understand.
Examples:
1.) Evolution
2.) Any law of thermodynamics
3.) any of Newtons laws of motion
4.) Law of gravitiy

Just describe in a couple sentences what the theory is and give an example of evidence for it.
Oh you would try to put me on the spot now wouldn't you. Hey joobz I finsihed High School and became a young mother by 19 so when I did try to go back to College as a single mom I just couldn't keep up that kind of a schedule. My little girl was more important. So obviously I did not even get to sign up for these science college classes so explaining them isn't an option. I did do pretty well in algebra at the time but I do not remember any of it now since I haven't used it.
In High School I was your typical American girl just wanting to get out of there and have fun. I found school boring except for my friends so you will just have to take me at face value, I'm no book worm. I do read some but not what most of you guys read. I find more Christian authors works edifying. I do many of my studies through DVD and audio cirriculum since this is how I learn best. God willing if I get stronger/more healing after 2 surgeries then I still may choose to take some college courses if God allows me the time, but probably will choose Biola or Moody University home study. I'm just not thinking I need a college degree at this point.( 46 with health problems) I am not able to do any full time work anymore. My heart is for sharing the gospel message now, how can college help me better do that?

All I know is in school I never believed Darwinism was right. It just never sat well with me as truth. And now the more I know about it DNA research does not hold up in this theory. All I know is my ancestor isn't an ape!

As for gravity, What goes up must come down! God is the one holding this planet together to sustain all life here but one day he will shake the heavens and earth with a mighty quake and then people will wish they had listened to reason. Jesus reigns!

P.S.Why don't you ask me something pertaining to motherhood or the struggles working/ single moms have that is important? I can tell you alot about this one being a mother of 4. I just wish people would realize moms are important too even if we haven't had a college education. Does your wife work joobz?

kk, where is the love and compassion of Jesus for the lost in you and your message? Think of the parables of the lost coin, sheep and the prodigal son. Don't you realise how gleeful you sound at the idea of billions of people suffering horribly. This really does not sound like Jesus.

I fell into drinking too much in my 30's when I started liking wine because I did not want to use pain meds.(wine seemed better) when I first started having back trouble. I had a lot of fun friends who liked to get me out and that's when I started not caring enough about the right things. God has changed this for me now but I do still have stuggles with pain management in my life. I hate drugs as I am a recovering addict /alcoholic, health problems were at the root of it. I have learned quick fixes do not work, but God does! Jesus has given me peace now but he does not give peace like the world. I know everything we go through in this life is only a blink compared to eternity!

So I take it this means you aren't willing or able to take my new challenge?
Sorry Hokulele I have chosen to follow Christ and his teachings alone now. Darwinism is anti-God so no way! I want them to get Darwinism out of the public schools since it is already well documented to be false.

Well, first of all, I am sorry but I have to tell you, your ancestors were apes. So are your descendants for that matter. As well as yourself. Human are apes, regardless of the Theory of Evolution.

More generally, there is nothing wrong with your choice of focussing on raising your family rather than pursuing an education. However, that does mean that you are not as well qualified to judge what constitute good science and what does not as somebody that would have made more efforts to study the subject.
Case in point, the last couple of decades of molecular biology have brought an incredible yield of evidences, all supporting the Evolution theory, which is the exact opposite that what you stated.

You should consider monotheism Kathy. You know it makes sense.

These god and jesus fellows are just too inconsistent. And apparently they believe in some kind of ghost with holes in it, so they don't seem that bright either.

The Aten will save you from confusion!
