"We've told the North American government, in private and in public, that we are prepared, wherever they want, to discuss everything -- human rights, freedom of the press, political prisoners -- everything, everything, everything that they want to discuss," Cuban President Raúl Castro said Thursday

If sincere, this is a surprising turnaround.

Lemme put it this way. If Obama, disbanded the IRS, issued an executive order that Jesus is lord and homos will be shot on sight, legalized all personal weapons including personal nukes, flew to North Korea and personally tracked down and shot Kim Jong-il, then flew back to beat up an anti-war protest with his bare fists before digging up the corpse of Ronald Reagan, resurrecting him with the power of faith, appointing him vice president, and resigning, the far right would probably see it as the first phase of a conspiracy to introduce sharia law.

It's not a useful standard.
