Yeah, it wasn't just an attempt at humor, but a pointed response on exactly what DOC likely hopes will happen from all his posting. Someone will feel the love, and light, and their hearts will be defrosted and they'll immediately convert.

It seems to me that he's on the wrong forum for such a thing to happen, but I'm skeptical that it's never happened.

Why does this delusion exist? Why do people so desire for other people to believe them that they are willing to do some incredible feats of mental gymnastics and tumbling, contorting themselves to make the "facts" fit their beliefs? Is it the desire for group comfort? That seems a bit silly given that there are so many believers, and believer forums, where everyone can glad-hand and back-pat all day long.

It seems a bit silly to go into the dragon's den, roust the dragon, tell him he's not a dragon, and insist all his dragon ways should really be tuna fish. To be fair, I jumped into the thread a bit late, but has anyone agreed with any of DOC's major points?

So why keep going? Longevity of a thread does not equate to its truthiness.
 
Anything can contribute to truthiness. Truthiness is a purely internal state of being, that's its great advantage compared to the petty objective truth...

I see this as DOC's attempt at "testing his faith".

However the way he is going about it is as dishonest to himself as his arguments are. A "test of faith" actually involves understanding the opposing argument, building up your own philosophy that can answer these arguments and still having faith even after all of that. DOC, does not even attempt to understand anything. His lies and handwaving away is the furthest from a "test of faith", it is a cowardly running away from arguments you can't answer.

He has no faith, just a delusion and a lie. He is intellectually lazy and a joke.

Well who really cares, though? This isn't a formal debate, is it? DOC certainly doesn't treat it like one.

Besides, a person is never going to allow himself to agree with his percieved "enemies" even if you hold the truth directly in his face. Maybe a little humor would actually help getting DOC to loosen up a bit too.

I guess you do have a point.
Still; catching such a blatant dishonesty would likely annoy me and raise my blood pressure and shorten my life span... I'd hate to give it help it happen...
 
Now if only DOC would make a new post stating that he his eyes have finally been opened to the truth of Shintoism, or something. I'd have a whole new level of respect for him.

It seems DOC has abandoned all semblance of discussion.
There's been multiple points that he was called on, and he's avoided.


I wonder if he's finally realized the silliness of his appeal to numbers.

It's the "Circle of DOC" it all comes full circle.

This slavery discussion, Luke as a physician/historian etc. etc. ad nauseum has all been discussed at least twice in these thread alone.

We shall see him ignore everything that has already been discussed and make an attempt at pushing another claim that was already discredited earlier in this thread. Hence we come full circle. Amen.

To be fair, his last post was only 4 hours ago.
He might just have a life outside of internet arguments. Or he might be in a different time zone (although I suspect he is American so that would not be that much difference) and has gone to bed...
