Has anyone ever used "supermemo?"

Not sure if this is bogus or genuine. I can't see anything overtly crazy about it.

Supposedly you give the program information you want to remember and it schedules learning sessions for you at the times it figures you will get maximum retention from.

I use the PalmOS version, I use it every day for czech vocabulary and other things like chemical elements; Au -> Gold etc.

I find it extremely useful, much better than paper flashcards or a two column notebook.

There are freeware workalike programs for PalmOS, but Supermemo Palm is still better than all of them. I've never used the online/PC/PocketPC versions.

Is this like that memory aide device that records sounds e-mails and all that stuff going on around you to help you remember things?

They also were to use a palm pilot device.

Yes, but I didn't see what the big deal was in the implementation of the staggered review sessions. One can do that himself. You might look at "Anki", which is free and in the public domain now. I wound up liking it better that Supermemo.

MHaze,

Yes in response to my message? Or to Rocketdogger or Atarian?

Does this device work at all like that memory aid thing I was telling you about or is it different?

MHaze,

I heard of a device which IBM and MIT was developing and was planning on incorporating it into cellphones sometime this year.

The device essentially analyzes information and details using microphones, video-cameras, GPS, and would also determine what e-mails were sent at a given time and location (using the computer's hard drive to remember the e-mail, the GPS for location, the computers onboard clock for time) and correlate to help a person remember what happened at a given time, place, location, what was said, who said it (microphones, voice recognition and ID). The device could remind people to do certain things at certain times and such.

Has anyone heard of this?

Anki and supermemo do nothing of the sort. They are flash card programs - sophisticated, but still just flash card programs.

BTW: What are your opinions on such "memory aids"? Do you think they're a good idea, or more a threat to privacy?
