Open an image in the Gimp.
Create a new layer.
Change foreground colour to pink and use bucket-fill to fill the entire layer.
The layer is now pink.

Now set the opacity of the layer to 0%.
The layer is now invisible.

Change the opacity of the layer to 100%.
The layer has maintained its pinkness during the time it was invisible.

The layer was therefore pink and invisible at the same time.
