Thank you Google GMAIL for bringing this tidbit to my attention:
She may play a beautiful but ruthless machine on TV's hottest show, Battlestar Galactica, but in real life, Tricia Helfer (a.k.a. Six to her legions of fans) has a heart of gold and a soft spot for animals, particularly cats. That's why she's starring in PETA's newest "Be an Angel for Animals" Ad in behalf of our feline friends.

Yes ever since seeing the P&T "********" episode on Peta, or maybe before I felt PETA was a little too extreme. Guess it's good she doesn't have a soft spot for seeing eye dogs, or other therapy dogs, or -- wait is that a pet cat??
-- Any comments from the gallery?

Well, it is just advocating to show love for our pet cats.

I can forgive her.

Seeing eye dogs? That's nothing. She's on record (in The New Yorker) as being opposed to having children, calling them "pure-bred humans", and that ""She told me, in the most unequivocal terms, that the world would be an infinitely better place without humans in it at all."

and

I am not a morose person, but I would rather not be here. I don’t have any reverence for life, only for the entities themselves. I would rather see a blank space where I am. This will sound like fruitcake stuff again but at least I wouldn’t be harming anything.

Not all of PETA's actions/positions are bad. While I generally have an unfavorable opinion of them, I can't fault them for advocating taking good care of your pets.

I just let the cat outside without supervision, so unfortunately I don't meet their standards.

If you're going to be in a holier-than-thou Peta ad, at least be nekkid. :p

I believe it was in the JREF forum that I read that there are different chapters of PETA with different philosophies. Is this correct? Is the derision targeted mostly at the U.S. branch?

Tricia Helfer was nine years old in November 1983. If you are referring to someone other than the subject of this thread, please name her before using a pronoun.

WTF is with that "picture"?

I thought it was gonna be one of those "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" things!

"Be an angel"? Hey, cherubs cherubim don't wear clothes. And she's a babe, which is etymologically related to baby.

Sigh. I tried.

Yes. In fact, they are opposed to any human-animal relationships as they call them all 'exploitative'.

In reality PETA advocates for the extinction of all species of domesticated animals.

First Six, then Carla, now this. She may be hot, but I get the feeling hooking up with her would be the last thing I ever do.

Still worth it.

The "Your Parent Kills Animals" comic is superbly ironic when you consider that they want every domesticated animal wiped out. And I wonder what they will do with the pests who are routinely slaughtered to keep disease under control. Or the field animals also routinely slaughtered for the growing of crops?

Ah, my oversight. By "she" I meant the President of PETA, Ingrid Newkirk.

Then I need to point out that when I quoted you, I was referring to the Battlestar Galactica actress who should get nekkid. Cuz...
