Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband -- an influential member of the local Muslim community -- reported her death to police Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.

"He came to the police station at 6:20 p.m. [Thursday] and told us that she was dead," Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said late this morning.

Muzzammil Hassan told police that his wife was at his business, Bridges TV, on Thorn Avenue in the village. Officers went to that location and discovered her body.

Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.
Sounds like he needs to read his company mission statement again.

How on earth can a beheading not be premeditated murder? You just flew into a rage and in a fit of anger, spontaneously decided to cut her head off? WTF? How could this possibly not be First Degree Murder?

Lumberjack or swordsman. "One second I was slitting the log, then my wife said something about wanting me to take medication if I wanted her to stop spending so much money on marital aids... I don't know what happened after that."

Beheading? I thought that New York had a sword and Guillotine ban in place...

It's been said many times before, if you outlaw guillotines only outlaws will have guillotines. Is that what you want?

No, I support Guillotine ownership. Well actually, I wouldn't want to own a Guillotine, I just want to maintain the right to own Guillotines. It's a slippery slope. Once Guillotines are taken away, what next? Battle axes, broad swords then Cuisinarts???

If I see someone with a guillotine on a plane, I'll kill him.

Guillotines are dangerous!
Recall all the difficulties Inspector Clouseau's boss had with the one he he used to cut the end off his cigars!
