I"m surprised that as a jew u don"t know that the brits had post-Holocaust internment camps in Cyprus. But don"t you think after the King David Hotel bombing wich Irgun did, I say brits had a good reason for not letting the jews into Palestine.

The Brits had use for Jews when their tiny Island was threatened in WWII. The SIG (Special Interrogation Group) was comprised of Palestinian Jews of German origin. In 1942, SIG assisted the SAS in destroying German airfields west of Tobruk and the raid on Tobruk.

While the U.S. and Britain are no strangers to anti-semitism, it will be sometime before any country can match Germany's chutzpah.

His complaints about Israel are regarding the slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza. I support those complaints. And no I'm not going to reconsider. Israel's behavior against the Palestinians is way disproportionate to it's ridiculous claims of being a victim and it should be ashamed of itself.

This is a tough call. On the one hand, you can be prosecuted in Britain for speaking hatefully against Jews; you can't in the U.S. So that would suggest that in Britain, there is greater formal disapproval of anti-semitism than in the U.S.

OTOH, one could argue that in the U.S., anti-semitism is such an insignificant problem that the government sees no need to outlaw it, while in Britain...
