alien life possibility is pathetic

No we would not have seen them, since more people are armchaired than outsdoorsman. And people HAVE seen them

1) I did not say "see", I said record empirically with credibility. If that has been done then this wouldn't be an issue.

2) "... since more people are armchaired than outsdoorsman ..."
...
I seriously don't know where to start with that.

3) The chances that we have entirely missed a surviving humanoid race on this little blue marble is extremely slim. It doesn't matter how shy they are, if roaming hairy 8-foot ape-men are walking around, there wouldn't be any doubt of their existence.

This little blue marble is quite massive and covered in remote forests. Apes roaming the cascades WOULD be missed

Yet no remains, most of the footage has been shown to be faked (Penn and Teller demonstrated how easy it was to fake Bigfoot footage), and is ALWAYS blurry and vague. No body, no skeleton, no fossils, no signs at all.

Freeman, klamatha, pgf-not shown to be fake. You IGNORE john freitas's debunking on p&T.

No body of a 10ft ape that numbered in the 1000's very recently in fossilization haven. Where is giganto?

Thanks for a reasonable post!

Based on the conversation's path after this post, I have to assume you completely missed the point of my 'reasonable post'.

Chance of Bigfoot: Exceptionally low, but non-zero.
Reason: Planet mostly explored, and no CREDIBLE evidence located.

Chance of alien life: Considerably higher, but non-certain.
Reason: Universe mostly unexplored, factors contributing to life not completely understood, size of universe conducive to multiple manifestations of non-zero probability events.

And just to be magnanimous:

Chance of God: Undetermined.
Reason: Insufficient coherent data, no solid definition of 'God', no credible evidence of even most generic concepts of God.

The same marble with another brand from apes that has big fancy cameras, an insatiable curiosity, an overactive imagination, and a population of 6 billion? Methinks the population to maximize the chance of evasion would have lead to extinction. Bye bye Bigfoot, we 'ardly knew thee.

Makaya,

Shall I assume by your silence on the issue that you do not intend to tell us whether the star I presented is capable of supporting life?

You really gotta love it when the troll starts dismissing his own arguments in the same post, lol.

If people criticize the possibility of unknown species, its only fair to lump god and alien life into the loony bin with the rest.

Newsflash to Makaya: it's not about being fair. You don't lump the possibility of finding an undiscovered microorganism in with the possibility of finding an undiscovered fire breathing dragon, you know, just to be fair.

To believe that there is no intelligent life on any other planet in the entire universe borders on insanity.....a border I think you're sneaking up on awful quick.

Not microbes. Alien life "lgm" should be lumped with cryptids if thats how disrespecting you are towards people like meldrum and fahrenbach

*yawn*

Let me know when you're done with this end of the see-saw. Actually, don't let me know, and let me just sit here and sleep.

Much better than debating with a self-admitted liar.

That pisses me off: Why you cant rebute my post? Ignore it?

Well, since it seems the Makaya won't analyze the star I gave him, here's the reveal:

That particular star has a 100% chance of supporting intelligent life. You see, that picture is a picture of our own sun, taken by the Voyager probe, from about 30 degrees outside the ecliptic.

However, by his silence, I can rightfully assume that Makaya did not know that. That he could not tell, despite a photograph and information about the star, whether or not it was a viable system.

I think he knew he couldn't tell, which is why he avoided answering the question. I think he knows that this shows that, given how hard it is to tell about one star, it's impossible to say definitively about the rest of the galaxy, much less the universe.

I think he knows all this, but can't admit it, because he is 18 and full of himself, as many 18 year olds are. He can't admit he is wrong, because to do so isn't cool. It's not manly. And so on.

So, Makaya, go right ahead. Be cool. Be manly.

But you're wrong.

What is it that you do so love to say? Ah yes, three words... so lovely they are.

"Deal with it."

Why you cant rebute my post? Ignore it?

I think you're looking for the word "rebuke".

There's nothing to ignore. Especially since you're diverging off topic anyways, which this whole charade involving "Bigfoot" has been.

For that matter, you have yet to rebuke the idea of the possibility of alien life, nor do your heroes, Wald and the other guy. Sure, they've written a book, but if writing a book automatically means that you're correct, well, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. :)

He'll probably say he knew all that and didn't want to play your game.

Eta: good call, btw :)

Well played, good sir!

As far as I'm concerned, you win the thread, the game is over, and there's no reason to post anymore. But I will anyways, because I'm easily distracted!

Let's not lump Bigfoot--a large hominid ape living in North America--in with unknown species. New species of plants and small animals are discovered often. (My ex wife, who is a botanist, has identified some of them--usually by reworking the herbarium specimens.) Large animals very very seldom. A new large primate in North America is absurd.

A new primate in the remote regions of Na isnt absurd. You know what, we should lump all species with cryptids before they are discovered, regardless of who believes who

What is this "Na"? The remote provinces of Na... sounds like something out of H.P. Lovecraft.

And upon the Obsidian Mountains in the most remote regions of Na, man did meet his grim demise, at the hands of unspeakable horrors...

Oh, you meant NA, as in North America. Okay, continuing on.

Well, you stick with that idea. Meanwhile, I'm just going to be smirking and following mainstream Biology. You know, the kind that doesn't believe every single claim of a new species based on blurry footage. :3
