Surveilance cameras and resolution

Just had a look at some surveilance camera footage from the ditching on the Hudson. This is reasonably good resolution, with proper perspective, from perhaps only a slightly greater distance than the footage of Flt 77 incoming, but look how little detail can be seen of the aircraft while it is still airborne.

And yet twoofers expect a crisp clean image of Flt 77 from the fish eye lens at a parking lot gate.

Are you going to suggest that a plane trying to land safely would be easier to see clearly in the video than one trying NOT to land safely? Wow! Wonder what the twoofers would say to that idea.

Its also worth bearing in mind that 9/11 was almost 8 years ago now and the resolution and quality of digital video has moved on hugely (assuming either was captured by purely digital systems of course)

exactly. Even with consumer digital cameras. Back in 2001, anything above 3 Megapixels was considered top notch.

Why don't the forum admins restrict the size of image that can be imbedded? That's an option in vBulletin, as pixels and/or bytes. Problem solved.
