What specific alignment? Sorry if I'm missing something here, but it seems to me that there is always a 'specific alignment' - or indeed a straight line - between any two points; in this case Earth and the centre of our galaxy.

Can someone tell me the actual date for 2012? Is it January 1st 2012? I want to know, because I want to save that date and be prepared for all of the lame excuses as to why the world didn't end. Should be good for a laugh.

With Emmerich in charge, you KNOW it will be a space shoot em up.
Which is a real outrage because Asimov delibertely has all the military action in his Foundatation stories take place "off stage" because he wanted to emphasis politics and economics instead of Battles In Space, which even in 1941 had become something of a cliche in Sci Fi.
I am not in the business of making predictions, but one I will make is that the Good Doctor will roll over in his grave at what Roland the Uberhack will do to his classic.

You're doing it wrong. It's funny when someone mimics your style in a reply to you. When you mimic yourself it becomes self-parody, which is more weird than funny. You should lose the rhetorical sniping too, if you're trying for humourous effect.
