Will Zimbabwe be the new Rwanda? Will UN and president Bush or president Obama stop Robert Mugabe before it is too late?

Probably not. We have no direct stake in what happens, and the risks to us (both in direct costs as well as in bad press) for going in before things get really bad outweigh the risks to us of waiting too long to do anything. That is a tragic reality, but it is the reality that I see.

Now there is news of a serious cholera out break in Zimbabwe.
Great job of running a country, Mugabe, great job.

Unfortunately, you can't just overthrow every tinpot dictator out there. Mugabe is a failure and incompetent. I suspect his end will be more like Pinochet and less like Mussolini. In other words, I doubt he'll get what he deserves.

We could issue a statement expressing "grave concern" over the situation and demanding that Mugabe step down.

I think South Africa should take the lead.

South africa have dithered so long that they have lost most of the influnce they might have had.

Yesterday Robert Mugabe said that there was no cholera in Zimbabwe. Today Mugabe and the crew are saying to cholera was a biological attack made by Gordon Brown and UK.

"UK caused cholera, says Zimbabwe"

I see dictator Robert Mugabe is playing the old colonialist white man scare card. nasty man that Robert Mugabe is.

Why? If nations banded together and forced them out, EVERY tinpot dictator could, in fact, be overthrown.

Are you saying that other than the Bush and Blair administrations no other will exists to end such horrible depredations? If you are, I think you are correct. No other nation, and no other political figures, seems to have any will at all.

I propose we recall our previous Resolutions on Zimbabwe...

Continue to be gravely concerned about the situation...

Reaffirm our respect for Zimbabwe's sovereignty...

Reiterate our condemnation of the situation in Zimbabwe...

Demand that the government of Zimbabwe serve the interests of its people...

Urge Zimbabwe to allow uncontested access for humanitarian organisations...

Declare that the situation in Zimbabwe constitutes a threat to global Peace and Security...

Decide to remain actively seized of the matter....

It's the least we can do...

By the looks of things Rwanda might have dibs on being the next Rwanda...
What, are they heating up again? From the latest news on the Dutch protestations, they are keeping a fight going in Congo along their western border.

Is that what you were referring to?
