Yes, but they are doing it moronically. The percentage of the 'left' who are using it to attack 'the great satan' is small. And it is certainly no reason to abandon sound science. It's a little like insisting AIDS does not exist because you dislike the effects of the disease. The people doing that are ridiculed as morons, but for some reason global warming deniers seem convinced they deserve more respect than those that think AIDS is a made-up disease.

Neo-Marxists regard AGW as a Western Imperialist myth meant to deny the Third World the progress that the West achieved by exploitation of fossil fuels. In fact this seems to be the thrust of the leftist argument on this issue - for example Durkin, producer of TGGWS, is a neo-Marxist.

What examples of "some on the left" can you conjure up?

The percentage of the left who even believe in Satan is vanishingly small :).

dudalb is rather obviously trying to associate "the left" with irrational anti-American zealotry. IMO.

I'm not sure about the Satan thing (we may wish the 'left' to look a certain way, but it does not) but disregarding religion and philosophy, I was saying that even accepting his absurd postulate as true, one is unable to fathom the response of those who faced with politics they do not like choose to attack the science.
