Metmars, what does the chart show asto the money going to non-USA media
I don't think the chart shows anything about non-US media. So, if you're hinting that something should be determined about left alternative media outside the US, I completely agree. However, as the quote I gave:
Further investigation of this evidence will likely continue to develop over the next decade of media research.
strongly implies, there's not been much research done re left gatekeeping in the US media. So, I'm not optimistic that research into left gatekeeping of US issues by foreign media has gotten much attention. But, I really don't know.
and if that is not the sum tota of the influence bought to bear on all internaiona media by "them" and by any means, do tell us more. Do attempt to be specific. Many here are like me, airy-fairy 'meta physics' are about as technically useful as mammary glands on males..
In your opinion, were the
journalists who discussed the failure of the financial press who invoked anthropological and "cultural momentum" perspectives "airy-fairy"?
BTW, I've quoted a reply, somewhere here at JREF, from Noam Chomsky about my suggestion for studying the US-friendly bias of
foreign media by interviewing them. He didn't think too much of the idea, but he didn't really persuade me, either.
After viewing therealnews.com segment (well, a good deal of it) that I just linked to, where the journalists certainly strike me as doing a very good job of critiquing their collective performance vis-a-vis the credit crunch, I'm more convinced than previously that doing interviews would be a productive way to study media bias.
For those "critical thinkers" reading this thread that really would be interested in the truth of the matter, please consider contacting any journalists that you know, giving them a link to this thread, and then asking them to weigh in on the matter - but only
after they've viewed therealnews.com segment. This last part of the request is so that your journalist acquaintances realize that it's a serious question, and a very similar question has been seriously and, IMO, credibly dealt with by journalists.
I am
not interested in flip answers, even by an accomplished journalist. So, I'd like for the journalists to have in mind that others in their profession have set the bar somewhere well above "flip".
Fosbury flip, OK, flip flip not OK, and Flipper's not a journalist. Gee, I can be really corny, can't I?
It's possible that the participants shown in therealnews.com segment were selected, deliberately or otherwise, on account of their superior powers of introspection and
social iq. So, maybe even the typical "intelligent" journalist will not have anything useful to tell us about non-conspiratorial bias in the media. I don't know. But I'd at least like to see the right questions asked, and a serious attempt at their answer.
