McCain to sit down with Leno in first post-election TV appearance
Posted: 11:37 AM ET

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Sen. John McCain will make his first post-election TV appearance on the "Tonight" show next week, NBC said Friday.
The Republican presidential candidate is set to join "Tonight" host Jay Leno on Tuesday in honor of Veteran's Day, the network announced. McCain is a former Naval officer and prisoner of war in Vietnam. More

Well, the show could reveal some interesting aspects about the campaign,
now that McCain can speak more honest about the things that happened
behind the curtains...

A shame the real McCain wasn't allowed to breath during the campaign. His concession speech was humble, dignified and moving.

Being 'ready to lead' was a slogan instantly undermined by the fact that he wasn't allowed to pick Lieberman as his vice-presidential nominee. I can't speak for Senator McCain, but I find it difficult to imagine that he didn't regard Palin as a terrible mistake by the GOP.

Whose name was on the ticket?

Good thing he didn't get elected since he wouldn't be allowed to make any of the decisions. (That was the point of the Oliver's "ready to lead" comment, I think.)

Looks like McCain is going the way of Bob Dole. Likeable guy, war hero, got caught up in a failed presidential campaign, continues the rest of his life as a likeable, funny guy. When do you think we'll get the viagra ads?

I agree with your sentiments about McCain's concession speech, but McCain is an adult and he was no victim. No. He made choices as it regards his own campaign.

Well, I'm not sure if McCain himself managed the priorities of the campaign
or not - but the result was the same either way: Not ready to lead

Just so long as his wife doesn't become a fundamentalist, hate-spewing senator.

From the Newsweek special election issue, apparently after Lieberman and Tom Ridge were vetoed by the RNC, he was attracted to Palin because he saw her as a "maverick" like himself. His staff, though were apparetnly skeptical from day one, if for no other reason then it took away the experience issue from them.
