I have run across these allegations, and would greatly appreciate some help debunking or contextualizing them:

1. Obama campaigned under the New Party in Chicago for his Senate seat, which is a branch of the American Communist Workers Party, who admit that their goal is to elect Communists to Federal and State government.

2. Obama also went in 2007 to Kenya to support and campaign for his cousin's Communist election.

Someone alleged this on YouTube. Personally, I think the Obama as socialist/communist is nonsense. But regarding the New Party, there is a newsclipping claiming he is a member, posted on various blogs. I know they may be falsely claiming him to be a member, but some say he made an effort to join them.

Just read his platform. There is nothing Communist in it. One might argue that he is more slightly-socialist than the also-slightly-socialist Republicans, but hardly Communist.

Obama was never a member of the New Party. He was endorsed by the New Party however but it is hardly uncommon for parties who can't afford to run many cadidates to endorse people who are rather a long way from them polticaly.

Well, for starters, the New Party (past tense--it is now defunct) was never "a branch of the Communist Workers Party." The CWP dissolved in 1985, the New Party didn't come on the scene until the early 1990s. As far as I'm aware, none of the founders of the New Party (IIRC, they were former Jesse Jackson supporters) were members of the CWP even while it was in existence.

Second, the New Party was never communist, or even particularly socialist--I'd call it more left-liberal, though I suppose "social democratic" might work. (Of course, to some, anyone to the left of Mike Huckabee is a "socialist.")

Third, outside of rantings by far-right blogs, Obama has never been shown to have been a NP member. The NP's main focus was "fusion" with Democratic candidates, so they would have supported his candidacy regardless of whether he was an NP member or supporter. But again, even if he was a member, that means fairly little.

In short--everything about point 1 is completely wrong.

Here you go. There is no evidence at all of any connection between Obama and Raila Odinga, not even the alleged familial ties.

Thank you Cleon, and everyone else!
(Except for the person with the glib, "He's not. There, debunked." ;)

I'm new to this site, and appreciate your help. I'm almost embarrassed to bring up this silly subject. The person who was making this argument on YouTube, has since gone on to make even more outlandish claims, so I'm not going to waste my time debating him.

A funny one, was the claim that news footage shows "Obama supporters flying the flag of the Soviet Union in front of the White House on November 4..."
I found the Fox News report where one person in the crowd of hundreds, held up a small hammer and sickle flag -- it wasn't flying. Give me a break.

Thank you all again.

Also you'll note that it looks like someone else pulls it down when the camera pans by. Don't know if it was a reaction to the flag or the camera, but it again belies the "supporters (plural) flying" the flag claim.

Obama certainly is a “small c” communist. His mom and White grandparents were “small c” communists. His father in Kenya was essentially a communist. Below is a quote from his father:

Theoretically, there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100% of income so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed. I do not see why the government cannot tax those who have more and siphon some of these revenues into savings which can be utilized in investment for future development.

Obama’s Communist mentor was Frank Marshall Davis.

Could you be a little more specific? John McCain was never officially a member of a communist party or front group.

Heck, can you come up with a definition of "communist" that would apply to Obama and not most Americans as well?

All Christians are small "c" communists as well. Acts 4:32-35 --

All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.

Marx would be so proud.

Your welcome. And welcome to the forum.

And if you wanted any more proof that he isn't a communist, MaGZ says that he is. I believe that settles it.
