The current wikipedia entry for him uses a four letter word to describe him also, but I can't post it here.

:D

Frum castigating the McCain campaign and it would take a heart of stone not to chuckle.

Florida is a lock at this point for Obama and has been since about 9 eastern but for some reason the networks will not call it. There is just not enough votes left for McCain to catch up. The medium size counties that McCain needed turnout did not show up and Obama either virtually tied or kept the spread down.

As someone else has mentioned, they're gun-shy after 2000, but it's not a mathematical lock, yet.... although nearly so. The plurality has been above 150K for an hour or so, but there's still 20% of the votes not counted in FL. But it looks like Obama takes FL and he's pulling away in VA again. IN and NC are still up for grabs, though.

Take Oprah. Please. :D

She has done more to promote pseudoscience than any other celebrity.

I 1000% agree. You might argue that some others have been more flagrant about it (Montel and Sylvia Brown ,Bill Maher and His war on Modern Medicine, and Rosie O Donnell and The 9/11 Truth Movement come to mind) but none have the audience and influence that Oprah has.

According to my calculations, assuming that Obama has California wrapped up, he only needs Florida to make the required 270 electoral college votes. McCain can win the rest, but CA and FL make Obama the president.

Why is CNN wasting time with some a hologram of some singer who I have never heard of?

It looks bad for McCain and the GOP. I would like Obama to win Virginia and North Carolina though. That will shut a lot of "Red state/blue state" whiners up.

Florida looks like Obama. McCain has been keeping pace with him on votes today, but Obama walked in with a 200k lead in early voting. McCain needs to gain on Obama and that isn't gonna happen with the remaining counties.

He doesn't need Florida, that would be nice, but he's won. Relax, enjoy.

Congratulations. It's going to be a few more years before Australians are going to vote for someone who isn't white to lead them.

Well, we'd have to have a chance to first. And besides, we don't vote for PM anyway.:p

It does look like our first female PM will be not long away though, with female deputy leaders on both sides of the house.

The one "lock" in the Midwest for McCain was supposed to be Indiana, and after a long night, Obama's now leading there. No one else is calling VA, yet, but there should be some more networks doing so shortly.

I agree that it's over for all intents and purposes. None of the TV interviews are holding out any hopes for miracle turn-arounds.

Now all are giving The Old Dominion to Obama.
The Capital State of the Confederacy has voted for an Afro American to be President.
A little astonishing.
