McCain's ties to Gambling

That is just about the stupidest.most badly reasoned thing I have seen yet in this sad election year.
Saying because somebody like to shoot craps he is unfit for the Presidency is really, really, really, stupid.
I agree. That would be a really, really, really stupid thing to say.

The person you quoted said: "I think his love of craps is consistent with other examples of his erratic temperament."

Agreed. Though I confess to liking Obama a bit ever since he admitted to being a poker player. :D

A man's liesure pursuits do say a bit about him. McCain is still the airplane jockey off-hours, taking risks and feeling the excitement and the sense that his daring makes him special. Obama plays poker, a game that demands carefull assessment of his own position and strength, and an ability to read the motivations and reactions of others.

You need to take a lot of data into consideration to make governmental decisions. Poker requires the wider range of data, some of it seemingly unrelated to what has happened or is likely to happen. You also have to figure out what an opponent wants to happen. Your own will and determination and that of your opponent matter.

Craps is a pure mathematical calculation, uneffected by the interests of other participants.

Poker is a much more presidential pursuit.

Maybe he just sits around, drinks beer, makes jokes, and eats potato chips with his buddies while playing for nickels and isn't the guy from Rounders.

That sounds more like BIll Clinton when in Good Ole Boy mode.

The only thing this thread proves is some people will say ANYTHING they think will help get their guy elected, no matter how petty or silly it sounds to all who are not True Believers.
To 90% of the people out there, saying that a guy who plays poker is better qualified then a guy who plays craps for the Presidency will get nothing but a huge horse laugh.
I am voting for Obama, but some of his supporters are scary.

FWIW, the point I was trying to make in the OP had little to do with McCain playing craps at the casino. It's the risks he takes away from the craps table with other people's lives and money that worry me.

It had half to do with it.
