CNN pulls camera crew from Palin meeting

Not that it matters much, but My respect factor for both of you has gone up tremendously.

The poltics section tends to be contentious, and it is always good to see decency.
Thank you both!
:)

Seconded!

Ben, I don't want to hear you criticise somebody for spreading rumors without proof again. Ever. You have sort of blown your credibility for that. The People In Glass Houses rule has kicked in.

no it isn't - they are both conservative and assumable republickers. Ben and I are not. Ben's point is Palin is rightfully afraid she will look like the incompetant she clearly is, their claim is she is just doing it for decorum' sake. Zero equivalence in those.

I should have used the [sarcasm] [/sarcasm] tag perhaps?

lol

Go back and read my post.... I agree with you on this.

I have no great love for the media, but trying to stonewall them is stupid. As Mark Twain said, you do not want get into a fight with somebody who has a pen and endless supply of ink.
Palin should meet with reporters, and then dodge any questions she thinks may hurt her. That is what just bout every politician does anyway.

Ben won some points there, but lost them with the McCain Medical records routine.

I agree, she did the right thing.
:)

(I don't actually agree with the thought that either side made a decision that was either "awesome" or "ethical", but I thought this was a good response to Ben's comment.)

FWIW, I do think that the CNN camera crew was wise to pull out, but not out of a sense of ethics. It would be rather boring television. Here's Sarah Palin and some foreign leader at a photo op. So? On the other hand, letting reporters in would be a bad idea. "Hello, Mr. Foreign Leader. You came to New York to discuss your role with the United States and to meet a potential future President, but we would just like to take a moment to discuss whether or not the charges that Ms. Palin went moose hunting with the safety off are true."

Because I think he's hiding something with a WEIRD and really irregular presentation of his medical records? That is just NOT how these things are done.

And I am really not alone. When I searched just now I find MANY people raising the same objections to that, some of the physicians.

What is he hiding by giving reporters only three hours to look at file-box full of records and not allowing them to take notes?

CLEARLY something.

If she is going to use the event as a campaign ad, we are entitled to know whether she blew spit bubbles or actually impressed the foreign leaders by not being the air head we think she is.

And she had better have something coherent to say afterward. She needs to butch up and start showing some leadership without handlers to keep her from choking on her tongue.

Let's find out.

Helena, Mont.: Were you able to see the actual records, or are you just going by what reporters have said are in the records?

Dr. David Katz: Sen. McCain's medical record is a chart 1,700 pages long; I have not reviewed that. I have access to much the same information as you, so my contributions here are more about interpretation of information than they are about privileged information.

You didn't read that link, did you? You just ran with the headline.

Katz gave an interview in May in which he admitted that he had no more information than you or I and you want that to be the killer cite?

If so, you're nuts.

Obama hasn't even let ANYONE look at his medical records. All he has is a note from his doctor. He's high risk for illness, with a history of cancer in his family, and as a former smoker and drug user (he's already admitted to smoking as late as this year, so it wouldn't surprise me if he isn't even a "former" smoker).

You have double standards.

There are polls that are showing that women have in fact moved more toward Obama than they were before Palin was selected. She isn't helping with the women's vote.

White women have switched drastically toward Obama.

Do you have a link? I'd love to be able to read these polls and show them on the Poll Vault thread.

So, doing some drugs in your teen years means you will die by 50 years old? Give me a break.

Strawman, corp. Maybe I shouldn't have included it as a health risk, though I don't think it can be good for your health. He does have an elevated cancer risk, and the "doctor's note" said that his last examination was in early 2007.

Why just a doctor's note, if he has nothing to hide?
