Callahan Spinning Video from DragonCon

New to this discussion, and having just watched that fascinating video of a bearded man preforming a magic trick to a group of interested adults and children, I truly can't see what all the fuss is about, but if I may offer a suggestion, you may want to run a spell checker past some of those sub-titles, starting with "controvertial" and working your way through the film. It's danged hard to take any of it seriously when it's riddled with simple spelling errors. Think of the children, Jim, and their impressionable little minds.

So there is my answer i know of no other performer who prints money to use in his show.

And the significant difference between Randi and, say, a printer who creates thousands of fake bills for the film industry is...what?

I do think Randi is a fellon becouse he says he did it.

As pointed out by several people here, he is not a felon. He has not violated any law. Reproducing money for entertainment purposes is not illegal. How much clearer does that have to be made for you? As pointed out, you are dangerously wrong.

Randi doesn't owe you a "thank you". You, however, owe him an apology. Not that he will ever get it.

We will now move on.

Before we do, and this is completely tongue in cheek-heard back from the Secret Service yet? I'm guessing not, since they have real issues to concern themselves with.

So let me get this straight!
The DragonCon brochure said this:

THE JREF MILLION DOLLAR CHALLENGE
Join the "Amazing" Randi & team from the James Randi Educational Foundation
as they administer the MILLION DOLLAR CHALLENGE
and discuss the future of the challenge.
James Randi, Alison Michelle Smith, Jeffrey Joseph Wagg
5:30 PM

Jeffrey Joseph Wagg in the very last few seconds of the meeting is asked why there was no Million Dollar challenge as advertised.

He denies that there ever was a challenge scheduled and that DragonCon was responsible for the mistake.

I have no reason to doubt him, but I would like to find out ....

What did he know and When did he know it?

Was there ever a statement made that the DragonCon advertisement was wrong?
Or were people still led to believe that the challenge was taking place?

Thanks
Dave

The JREF is painfully transparent. "What did he know and When did he know it?" is a funny thing to say. You are implying that Jeff is hiding someone who can really perform magic because it would have hurt the show. He must be putting that magical person on ice for another day -- or you don't think you got your moneys worth because someone didn't fail to demonstrate that they had real magical abilities?

I'm curious -- what would you have liked to have seen. Someone who couldn't state what ESP cards another person selected or someone who couldn't find which coffee can held water with their water finding stick or someone telling Jeff it is time to wet himself only to find out Jeff has fine bladder control? What do you think was withheld from you?

What happened to that Jim Callahan guy. He challenged me to say how he did his magic trick and I did and he hasn't said if I was correct or not.

Here's a simple question for you, Jim:
What is a "paranormalist"?

Sorry man I am working my way through the other post first.

The guy went to allot of trouble to offer it and I feel that I should take care of it first.

Thanks,

Jim

It would take you less time and fewer electrons to actually answer the question than to tell us why you won't.

Dave, have a look at the challenge application thread and tell us who you think was to be tested. It will be easy to contact that person and ask.

Fair enough? Then stop whining and do it.

US Secret Service said:
The Counterfeit Detection Act of 1992, Public Law 102-550, in Section 411 of Title 31 of the Code of Federal Regulations, permits color illustrations of U.S. currency, provided:

1. The illustration is of a size less than three-fourths or more than one and one-half, in linear dimension, of each part of the item illustrated
2. The illustration is one-sided and
3. All negatives, plates, positives, digitized storage medium, graphic files, magnetic medium, optical storage devices, and any other thing used in the making of the illustration that contain an image of the illustration or any part thereof are destroyed and/or deleted or erased after their final use

Title 18, United States Code, Section 504 permits black and white reproductions of currency and other obligations, provided such reproductions meet the size requirement. See the section on this website entitled Know Your Money for more information.

I hope that helps.

Jim, this is the second time I'm bringing this to your attention. On your website

http://www.jimclass.com/Challange.htm (you misspelled challenge, btw)

you say that you intend to be tested for the MDC. You have clearly stated here that that is false. Keeping this statement on your site is a lie.

Do the adult thing and remove this lie from your site, Jim.

Sorry, man. I can't help myself. ;)

Fouth question by Gravy makes no sense so if he wants to look at what was offered and put forth one question it will be next.

I will wait.

Thanks,

Jim

Okay, Jim. I'll try not to confuse you.

The only way to win the JREF MDC is to apply, have your application accepted, agree on a protocol, and pass the preliminary and final tests.

You cannot win the JREF MDC by creating your own challenge, any more than I can win American Idol by holding a singing competition in my shower.

You have clearly stated here that you will not be applying for the MDC.

Jim, when will you be removing this false statement from your website?

Uh oh. I think we have reached the essence of the problem.

Can't even define what a paranormalist is. I wouldn't expect any proof of paranormal powers. Let alone a clear description of what he can do under controlled test.

Jim Callahan,
See that button labeled "Quote" at the bottom of each post? Use it, please.

Jim, apparently my question still wasn't simple enough, because you didn't answer it. Please do so now.

If you are saying that you will not be removing the false statement from your site, give your reasons why you believe lying is acceptable.

Last question from the post on page 4.

No.

And I do know this is the JREF however I will not comment on your assertion of absence of stupidity.

Well that is done with.

Thanks again for going to the trouble to place them all in one post Kuko.

Best Wishes,

Jim
