Did the interview take place before or after the release of the final report on WTC 7? Because as far as I am aware there was no "official "explanation for the collapse of WTC 7 prior to its release.

I think Jennings was referring to a vertical beam (pole) within the stairwell that saved him from falling when the explosion knocked the stairs out from under his feet.

Modern high rise building's stairways are simply shafts with stairs, lighting and some cases, sprinkler systems installed in them. There is no need for vertical support in a shaft.

Since the journey fundamentals of his story are not questioned by anyone, I find your incredulity based on the appearance of his clothes, in a video of moderate image quality, to be totally lacking in credibility.

OK, I see your point. Yes, he could have simply referred to a pipe or a banister as a pole, but I still contend that he would have known the difference.

The whole problem I have with Mr. Jennings interviews is this Hollywood type of scenario he tells. Explosions, landings collapsing, hanging from a pole and climbing out, etc. I have little doubt that if Mr. Jennings and his college had a landing blown from beneath them, FDNY would have collected their bodies from wherever it was that landing wound up.

Yes, there is a strong possibility that there were bodies left in WTC7 from the triage. Other people, like his rescuers, would have seen those bodies; Barry Jennings didn't see them. Only the prisonplaneteers are trying to claim that.

You are correct. There was no official explanation to the collapse of WTC 7 until the recent report. Before that, the government’s working theory which Jennings had difficulty in accepting was WTC 7 fires fed by the stored fuel tanks contributed to the collapse of WTC 7. This is why he made his I’m an “old boiler guy” comment; he was expressing skepticism to the government’s theory and considered CD as a possible explanation.
