Do Most Atheists Know that science..... Part 2

Then why are you badgering me for details regarding the Big Bang Theory?
Because he thought he saw a weakness in your understanding of "the opposing view" and wanted to try to score some points?

Just a theory. ;)

I get the impression that you and science does not know how all the "space" in 100 billion galaxies came from something smaller than an atom. If I'm wrong can you direct me to a website that can explain how all this space came about.

No one knows. This is not a secret. What we know is that it did. Seriously, read a Stephen Hawking book. All this information is out there and astrophysicists have been explaining it for the general public at least since Carl Sagan produced "Cosmos".

Actually, in my opinion, it's not really important to know the X's and O's of how God created the universe.

Then why is there an entire chapter in his Holy Book about it? Do you ever stand in one place for two minutes at a time?

As was previously stated, we certainly don't know how all the space developed after the big bang. But, that's the happy thing about science... the ability to admit the gaps in knowledge. What science will not do is accept a "default" to fill those gaps. Instead, science will hypothesize, study, and search for those answers. A default answer will get us nowhere, and will thereby hinder development.

To be fair there's 1189 chapters in the Bible and only 1/31 of one of those chapters actually deals with "creating the universe".

In other words 0.0027% of the Bible deals with the creation of the universe.

I like it.
Genesis Chapter 1 can be ignored because it is such a small part of the bible. Genesis Chapter 2 can be ignored because it is such a small part of the bible.
Genesis Chapter 3 can be ignored because it is such a small part of the bible.
Genesis Chapter 4 can be ignored because it is such a small part of the bible.

Revelation Chapter 22 can be ignored because it is such a small part of the bible.

Noce try Lothian, but this is a fallacy of generalisation. Gumboot wasn't making a statement that any particular chapter can be ignored, only that only one chapter of the Bible dealt with the creation of the universe.

True enough - I always forget how much of the general "canon" of the Old Testament is actually in Genesis.

Well, yeah, most of Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy are lists of architecture, geneology and dietary/moral restrictions. The stories happen in Genesis and Exodus. The OT doesn't pick up again until the histories.

Same here... I've got some pretty good "layman" level books from real scientists too, that I would be willing to give DOC if I thought there was even 1 chance in 100 that he would give them a fair and honest reading.

The Mr. Tompkins books by George Gamow would be a good start.
