Will Obama drop Biden?

Just thinking

Does anyone here think that Obama will (or at least seriously consider to) drop Biden and take Hillary back? Not that it will happen exactly as I just described, but that something will allow Biden to drop-out with full dignity --- and for Obama as well.

After all the talk about McCain dropping Palin (Ben Burch) I find it funny that this question is even coming up.

I'm still counting the days after it was projected to happen :)

I'l have to one up applecorped on this one. Based on what I see in Obama's campaign there are no indication he'll drop Biden. And in the remotest chance he would just like in the McCain camp you wouldn't get that impression. The picks they have now will almost certainly be on the ballot barring a rock slide of a scandal on magnitudes greater than the Rev. Wright issue.

Well, Biden himself said that Hillary would've been the better choice... :boggled:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/new...ave-been-a-better-vice-president-than-me.html

Speaking at rally in New Hampshire on Wednesday, Mr Biden said: "Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice-president of the United States of America. Let's get that straight."
He continued: "She's a truly close personal friend...quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me. But she's first rate, I mean that sincerely, she's first rate."

No, never happen. Never. Not just 'cause she would be a poor choice, but it would be an ultimate sign of insecurity, weakness, and flagrant pandering not to mention the dreaded flip-floppery... he'd may as well just drop out of the race.

Now, if he could go back in time and revise his choice given the last few weeks of America's fun with its shiny new toy? Still no, I would submit.

But I contend that it wouldn't play out as a choice that Obama makes ... something will make Biden drop-out. Family matters, illness, whatever ... leaving a vacancy.

Yes ... and that's what got me thinking.

I guess it was a failure for Obama to announce the VP pick before the
Reps did. But is there a precedence for dropping a VP after the convention
in US history?

Anyway: Obama won't drop Biden - it's A. too late and B. the Republicans and
their FOX-Noose would cry "FLIPFLOP!!1!!11!" till the end of the election... ;)

Biden's comments strike me as true, just as Hillary would have been, IMO, a stronger Democratic party candidate that Obama. However, Obama chose Biden, he'd be showing criminal weakness to step back from his choice. I don't think Obama is stupid. He's made his choice, and Biden wasn't a bad one. He might have wanted Hillary, behind the scenes, and she might have declined. Time will tell on that score, if anyone fesses up to what went on behind the scenes.

You did read the post right above what you just posted, right?

There are ways to make it look like Obama had nothing to do with it and he has to pick another candidate.

Me nitpicks! My bolding.
What!? You mean neither Obama nor McCain have done enough of it already!@?!

Hillary would not have been a good choice, although at least she was qualified to be VP. Biden was a decent choice.

Biden was a stellar choice compared to Palin, and at least Obama knows his running mate.

I'm hoping Obama will nominate Hillary for the Supreme Court after Ginsburg retires.

Well, I would predict that nobody would buy it, even if any of those reasons were true. I know I wouldn't. Short of massive scandal, he's in for the long haul.

Top of her class, Yale Law School, 8+ years experience as a legislator, she's vastly more qualified than Harriet Miers, and I think she would be great.

Thanks, I'd rather have someone who has spent some years as a judge. I am sure there are plenty of centrist to left minded judges well qualified for the post when Ginsberg hangs up her cleats, if Obama is president. Hillary has no business on the Supreme Court. Not a chance in hell of her being objective.

You will note that Meiers never got off of step zero. She had no business being nominated, IMO.

:)

Fair enough, but I still think she would be awesome. "Justice Clinton." Come one, the Senate would ratify her just like that.
Uh, no? I think she's going to be a fine Senator for her party for some years to come. I also think she's going to run in 2012 whether or not Obama wins in 2008. ;)
