Not much in the way of details... not that it really matters- when woo endorses woo it's like... woo hoo.

Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura has endorsed a Sept. 11 conspiracy theorist for a congressional seat.

Ventura came out Thursday in support of Kevin Barrett, a Libertarian running against incumbent Democrat Ron Kind for western Wisconsin's seat.

I wasn't aware that Barrett had the Libertarian endorsement, though. That's just a bit upsetting.

this was a point of discussion when barrett first announced his candidacy, he was calling himself a libertarian but had no affiliation to the Libertarian Party, unless thats changed the capital L in the article might be an error, lol


EDIT: nervermind, barrett is listed on the Libertarian Party's website: http://www.lp.org/candidates

The State party gave him their nomination, but the national party has issued a statement:

In almost all cases, as Political Director I support the candidates as
nominated by our state parties no matter how I feel about them. I cannot
in good conscience do this in the case of Kevin Barrett.

I do not have a problem with him or anyone as a so-called "9/11 Truther."
I accept that people who express skepticism over the official story about
what happened that day have a home in the LP. But Mr. Barrett goes well
beyond that in two ways:

1) He frequently calls for the mass executions for treason for reporters
who wrote articles with which he takes issue. I absolutely will not
support any candidate who calls for mass murder of anyone, and am appalled
that anyone who considers themselves Libertarian would advocate something
so horrific.

2) He has made qualified statements of support for the preeminent
Holocaust deniers in North America. I researched this extensively before
coming to this conclusion. He seems to be playing both sides of that
fence. I am and will always be totally intolerant of the Holocaust
deniers. It's a blatant racism borne of a deliberate stupidity and I will
do absolutely everything in my power to make sure that Holocaust deniers
do not feel they have a home in the LP.

I strongly urge the Wisconsin LP to not nominate Kevin Barrett for US
Congress. Regardless of your decision however I will go out of my way to
disassociate him from the national LP.

I love the smell of schadenfreude in November.

I am betting that this locks in another D in congress and locks Jesse out for the rest of his life.

It may also focus a less favorable light on the twoofers. When they get their heads handed to them on a stick, it should say something about how much public support they have.
 
So now Jesse is endorsing a Holocaust Denier.
No wonder that Gov.Arnie is probably not returning his phone calls.

Barett will come in a distant third. I don't know who the GOP is running in that district, but he will do a hell of a lot better then Barett. I understand that district is considered a "safe" Democratic district anyway.

What are you babbling about? Both of these twoofers were already twoofers- one is just using his flaccid political power to endorse the others flaccid political position.

Think- just for a second- about who you're calling mainstream... do you really want to associate yourself with that- and can you really even be proud of that? Everyone else is laughing.

You guys are now running as a candidate a Holocaust denier who wants his critics killed.

Cripes, Tweeter, 570 posts and the last 569 have been basically:

"Woo Hoo! The Truth movement is alive, not dead! WooHoo, we doubled in size in Doughmount County in the Last year! Woo! Awesome!"

Most movements, after seven years of existance, would be cheering on things like accomplishments or massive public demonstrations.

It's certainly not a good sign for a movement to be cheering on the fact that it isn't quite totally dead yet.
 
As far as "movements" go, the truth movement is constipated.

LOL I doint know why this came to mind but when I read your post I thought of that movie about the baby that kills people.
I think it was called "it lives" or "its alive"

Wow, I'm really glad that the national LP wrote that about Barrett. It's getting harder and harder to call myself a libertarian these days without explaining how it's libertarian with a lower-case 'l'.
