Palin....Check mate

I may as well..

Mods, can you please move this thread to the Sara Palin subforum?

Sorry, can't let this thread die.

That being said, I'm expecting an impressive performance from Palin tonight. The crowd will go wild with every word. She's been prepping non-stop since she got the call, she's photogenic, and a former sportscaster. Definitely her element. If she flubs, it will just show that she's a real person.

For those who don't have the schedule, you can check it out here ;)

Your queen is in peril.

Here's a preview. Apparently she will go ballistic on Obama. She will belittle the fact that before Harvard Law School, Obama was a "community organizer". She will also attack the "Washington elite" who insist on trying to find out stuff about her.

But I understand she comes back and wins the swimsuit competition.

Just caught the convention.

Palin did a fine job. She got the family stuff out of the way up front, very direct. She's poised and comfortable.

Might have been a tremendous gaffe to repeat her claims about opposing the Bridge to Nowhere. She's on record supporting it. That'll come back to haunt them.

Otherwise, I give her a B. Better than average, but not a homerun.

She repeated some of the standard misrepresentations of Obama's platform that appear to be required material for this convention, but the Dems did much the same.

The Hawaii governor's "zero" remark may go down as the catchphrase of the convention, I have to say. Brilliant!

Huckabee was every bit as good as Clinton was at the Democratic convention.

But the superstar was Rudi! Holy mother of God! I don't think I've seen a better political speech in my life. It wasn't Churchill or Roosevelt, but as far as what I've seen live, it takes the cake.

The resume bit? Priceless. Except for some party-line required moves at the end, an astounding dismantling of Obama and Biden, delivered with perfect comfort and energy, engaging the audience with ad libs.

Perhaps Palin's effort pales in comparison with that effort, which was meant to be delivered on a different night.

The Giuliani speech was one of the worst convention speeches I've ever heard. Petty, shrill, mean-spirited, devoid of substance, a series of attacks with no positive message at the center. Like a barking dog.

I thought it was beneath him.

I'd have to come in somewhere in between with Guliani. It did not grab me at all. Not the worst speech that I've heard, but not the performance Palin gave.

It will be interesting to see how she does not only in the debate but in other interviews. She can certainly deliver a message, but can she think on her feet?

Outside of what you may think of Rudi's politics, or the politics of the convention, it was rhetorically brilliant. His speechwriters deserve whatever they're paid, and his delivery was impeccable.

Well the teleprompter might help, even though that delivery the other night wasn't exactly smooth.

McCain was already slowly gaining,,,if not leading BO before the DNC. Chosing Palin was such a brilliant move that I cannot beleive a politician thought of it. It would have been my choice too, but I knew they were not smart enought to try it. Now its checkmate...

I predict that Palin will be a superstar. She is that good. She will be the first female president. She is that good.

The fact that Mccain chose her means he is way better than I thought. Way different than Bush, way better. Our country has a chance now...no more Bush....no more Obama or clinton. Way to go Mccain....

Another Palin lover gets a 'bump!'.

;)

Best thread bump EVER!

LOL I read the OP without noticing the date and was becoming increasingly boggled as I went on!

rats. Now I have to go read up on what Palin has been up to today, since I see nothing worth a bump to this so far.
