okay. So far I vote that Wowbagger is bringing the ipod and speakers
Still no venue ideas. Sighs.

Speaking from my own experience, I've had to go outside to smoke for so long that I actually feel uncomfortable smoking indoors. Not that that will be a problem for me at TAM7, since I won't be smoking. Just an observation.Well, there are smoking and non-smoking hotel rooms. The party, this year, was in a smoking room. Though, there were only a small number of smokers in it, so it was not a big deal.
I think smoke-free is a reasonable restriction. Though smoking was not a problem this year, you never know: it could become an issue next year, depending on various factors. (number of smokers, size of room, performance of air circulation systems, accessibility to outside (via balcony or whatever), types of things smoked, etc.)
Well, I don't actually have an iPod, at the moment (though, I suppose I could pick one up, one of these days), but I do have a laptop, that can store ooodles of music! Hook that up to some good speakers (which I already have some pairs of), and we're all set!okay. So far I vote that Wowbagger is bringing the ipod and speakers![]()

Please and thank you! You're the best.Well, I'll be going to Vegas again in September, for a work-related conference. I'm sure I could find time to go down to the South Point Casino, and ask a few of these questions, if anyone is interested.
Found a nifty site that has mansions and other homes for rent. This one is especially swanky: http://www.vrbo.com/199564
I think that's an excellent idea -- going for one of the less expensive ones, of course, but it should be easy to find for those not familiar with LasVegas.Hm. Doesn't have to be THAT swanky. What is the average going rate for a house rental for one night that doesn't have whiny neighbors that will call the cops on us? Man, for a party town, it is sure hard to set up a freaking party.
Oh, they are actually affordable if we chip in together:

One night is up to $500, and the one at the link is only 3 minutes from the strip.

Of course the advantage to having it in the hotel is that there's less travel time (um, wait, some of those hotels are bigger than small cities) at the end of the party, with no designated driver required.
We could provide shuttle service. Also, several people could stay overnight in the house.Of course the advantage to having it in the hotel is that there's less travel time (um, wait, some of those hotels are bigger than small cities) at the end of the party, with no designated driver required.
It was actually the last three parties. But, who's counting? The last two forum parties in hotels resulted in the party being broken up by the bigwigs.
Forget banquet rooms, condos, hotel rooms and rental houses. Let's just meet in the parking lot and run amok.
Can we get a head count and find a bar that will let us wander around and take over the place?I think it might be time to recognize that the forum party has outgrown its humble roots and to pull the plug on it. Personally, I have no interest in traveling off site to some rented house when there are perfectly good bars in the hotel.
Huh. I never thought I'd see the day Scrut would become a party pooper.I think it might be time to recognize that the forum party has outgrown its humble roots and to pull the plug on it.
