This is brilliant; very amusing. I don't know how much longer McCain wants to highlight his opponent's celebrity/inspirational aspects, but it worked for me. Punchy, funny and a not-so-subtle dig at religion which should please some of the folks here. And it sends a message that the hype is just that; hype.

No, it really isn't.

I don't know how much longer McCain wants to highlight his opponent's celebrity/inspirational aspects,

Depends. How much more desperate is he going to get?

but it worked for me.

Whoa! There's a shocker!

Yeah, nothing says "I'm the better candidate" like "WAAAAH! They like the other guy too much!"

This is pure desperation. McCain's got nothing to appeal to, so he's gone from attacking Obama to attacking his supporters.

Pathetic.

Can't be a McCain ad because it doesn't have the "I approve this message" at the end. Must be an RNC ad.

Yeah, good ad. Really highlights McCain's stand on some issue and why he's right. I know because McCain sent his campaign staff a memo in March (April?) saying he was going to run a high-road, issues-oriented campaign and McCain certainly wouldn't flip-flop on such an important promise, would he?

I'm not sure if this ad will work at all. The typical channel-surfing viewer will only remember a lot of Obama footages and could even miss it's a republican ad if he or she doesn''t watch it until the end.

Sure some of Obama comments are awkward but overall he doesn't say anything completely outrageous. He looks like a preacher, and a lot of people could see this positively.

Not impressed. Where are the issues? Or is this turning into a "don't vote for the popular guy 'cause he's popular" campaign?

In the end,

2:20

But I have to say, the ending of this commercial was really so anti-climactic.

I mean, it was a fairly good premise, and it felt like they were trying to build it up, but it never really got anywhere.

And, of course, when I say "fairly good" I mean "preaching to the choir douchebaggery".

Seriously, this is a really ineffective campaign. It will of course speak to the people ranting about those Obamamaniacs and their Messiah, but those people were never going to vote Obama anyway by definition.

Ah so Barack Obama is Moses or Jesus? Well then the republicans must be demons and John McCain must be satan? John McLucifer shoul trie better then that. Still that ad makes Barack Obama look like Benny Hinn.

Wow, it's incredible to see just how desperate the McCain campaign is.

The ending sucks. "Barack Obama may be 'The One'...but is he ready to lead?"

The ad did nothing to cast doubt on his leadership. It's a total non sequitur. If they wanted to turn the ad to take a dig at his leadership, it should have followed "is he ready to lead?" with something punchy that ties it back to the rest of the ad, like a soldier saying, "He's not the one I've been waiting for."

On a separate note, I thought any ad paid for by the campaign had to say, "I'm John McCain, and I approve this message." Or is it only a certain class of ads? I notice there is no issue referenced in this ad. Are character ads exempt from approval by the candidate?

I've seen the argument made that if anything, the ad is calling Barack Obama the anti-Christ, although in sort of a dog whistle kind of way.

The one religion that gets no skepticism around here, the one religion that cannot be mocked, is Obama. Blinded by the lightness.

That's because they're not airing it anywhere. They're counting on the media to spread these ads for them.
