Well despite headlines of gas going up 40% and the like in the UK my gas price hasn't gone up since January and with it being summer I've not noticed any difference.

Lest any realise not- Darat is playing with our minds.

In the UK, we put petrol or diesel in cars.
"Gas" is LNG or LPG- ie an actual, gaseous hydrocarbon, used to heat houses, hence less in demand in summer.
However, I predict his gas bill will increase at least by 30% by December.
Yesterday's diesel price was $2,62 per Litre. Gasoline about $2.38

I'd like to make a motion that everyone from the U.K. kindly STFU about your petrol prices and taxes or duties or whatever the you pay over there and go back to pouring milk into weak tea and drinking warm beer and lamenting over your lost empire and laughing at your royal family.

Feeling catty today, are we?

I discovered somethind odd the other day. Gas prices were fifteen cents difference per gallon within a space of 35 miles.

Curious.

Note: my boycott of airline travel, except when absolutely necessary, began in October 2001, after I saw their coward's way out. It went into deep earnest when I got back from over there.

I only travel by air, or even plan to go anywhere that far, if I absolutely have to and can't get out of it. The trip to Europe we'd been planning for two years I cancelled. Not rescheduled for any time soon. Not worth it.

That's how the price of gas has influenced me: travel is by car, or not at all, and it's mostly within a day of where I live. I've seen a lot of the world, but I am not convinced that seeing much more of it is worth my time. My one regret is not having gotten to New Zealand back in 2002, when we were looking at skiing there, and Australia. Maybe that will inspire me to once more don the seven league boots.

People do eventually adjust to higher prices, it's just the sudden change that bothers them. Except for people who bought their cars recently most people probably bought them when gas in the US was $1 or $2/gallon.

Here in Japan, I simply don't own a car. Don't need one. Trains, busses and taxis (as well as my own two feet) can take me wherever I need to go for less than the price of owning a car. Most of my neighbors do own cars, but I decided to save my money for other things.

I don't use any gas except for cooking/heating and I don't pay for it so it's not affecting me at all.
