Well thats interesting because in an earlier post on this very thread. You pointed out images of supossed "thermite' damage on the sides and broken ends of core columns. You're embarrassing yourself.

Because... Um... No, sorry, I can't see it. Obviously lateral joints could not have been connected to sides and broken ends of core columns.

There were enough valid arguments from JREF to reject the HE/Thermate-Compo hypothesis, so your argument is vastly out of date and in fact referring to an entirely different theory.

Also, moving goalposts? You're confusing a model with an illustration. The model did not take lateral joints into account as a means of securing the thermate yet, but did take into account that the beams continue for quite a long time in both directions and *are* going to be lateral secured in both directions. Your argument fails even to counter a failed theory. The real reason against the HE/Thermate-Compo was the sound. Although I can still not entirely rule the HE/Thermate-Compo out, using the lateral joints as a means of attack makes the HE charges superfluous. So while JREF goes with the sound argument, I went by ockham's razor and rejected the model for a more simple one that also satisfied the sound-related JREF objections.

200 oC is based on visible appearance of the oxide colors. If this were not the case then tempering the steel properly would be very difficult to accomplish

Tempering: Once the steel is quenched, it has to be tempered using heat. This is done by first cleaning the piece down to bright metal and then slowly heating it, watching for the color of the metal to change. The proper temper is reached according to the chart below and then the metal is further cooled in water.

I hope you understand if the posters here don't take that as a compliment.

What was your purpose in joining this site and interacting with us? It seems a bit bizarre to join and right away begin insulting other members if you intend to gain something other than personal satisfaction from the interaction. I'd appreciate any insight you can offer into your motives.
