You refer to Hokulele as him, ask if astigmatism is viral or bacterial and suggest that touching hands and feet will cure it and you have the stones to get all indignant with me? That's rich. AstralWar, it sounds to me like you are describing an ability to visualize or otherwise use your mind or energy on the "inner planes" (to borrow a term I picked up from my Wiccan friends) to influence events, heal people, etc.

Since you initially expressed an interest in what skeptics believe, here are a few questions to ask yourself to get started:

First, when you decide to help heal someone's headache, or move the wind, or some other thing, afterwards ask yourself: Is there any other possible logical explanation for what just happened that doesn't require a supernatural or paranormal element? For example, if you are asked to heal a headache, you can ask: Did the person also take medication that MIGHT have healed the headache? Is it possible the headache (or other condition) might have gone away if no one had done anything at all? Is it possible the movement of the wind might have happened the way it did anyway? If it's possible that the event could have or likely would have happened on its own, without your intervention, then there is no reason to look any further for a magical or supernatural explanation.

Well what if those things you mentioned as well as the images that run through your mind might have started by a magical or paranormal influence to begin with. Then what? rather if some think supernatural or magical or even science explanation then they forgot to put the heart into the equation. If I would be willing to atleast try and help I will I won't turn my head no matter what even if i put my life at risk that's what makes me me and who i am. and not for personal gain or expecting anything at all, but only because helping others is all I want to do;p) there has been many times in my life when i put myself in the worst position to help someone else cause no one else would or even could. that if i had personal or intentions to take advantage of the one in need i would have died a long time ago and would have never made it here right now;p)

Maybe its exhausted because the statue is making sure the lamp is upright and in place. Irish Murdoch you seem to be an alright person. To be honest maybe you should becareful as to who you invite into your house to perform such an act. Have you ever had to slightly adjust littles things here or there within the room. If you can't knock it over astrally (or can you?), I think I might just say "to hell with it" and knock it over myself, using the good old physical method. But it would be much more exciting if you could do it astrally. Who knows, it might even make me believe in something I didn't believe in before.

I don't think the statue is making sure of anything: thinking that would involve attributing intentions to it, and that's a move I'm wary of taking with a piece of clay. By the way, "exhausted" has more than one sense.

No, I've never had to adjust things a few degrees, except when dusting (you know, you move them out of the way, dust, and then put them back). I've got a few degrees though.

I am not here for any test sorry X. when i do things i make them normal. I can do anything. There is nothing that is out of reach of my grasp. I mainly like to do things for others a lot.

What degrees do you have may i ask? I do not know why you havn't already knocked it over yourself. I am sure it would be more exciting if i did do it. But why should i when you can do it for yourself already. You should look within your heart when it comes to what you believe in. so what if you started it as a you would a daydream and sped it up a whole lot not just seeing what yourself will do but what everyone in the world will be doing then adjust to what they are doing at that instant. try adding what you smell and feel. feel the vibrations not hearing cause your ears are in the physical still ;p)

I never said a foot massage. and the numbers represent what? No i admit that i will only suggest you should try and perform your ritual a differant way. cause once you start part of what you normally do before you start to smoke you will make yourself smoke. If you are able to take a ciggerate and put it to your nose and smell it and not lite it and choose to get rid of it you will have trown that habbit out of your life. I didn't see that post as being at all rude or offensive (unusual... ). Just a light-hearted challenge. And the phrase "put up or shut up" is a pretty standard response to people who claim to be able to do something that most other people cannot do. You'll be hearing rather a lot of it on this forum, I'm afraid.

The numbers represent results. The numbers represent the number of times a particular procedure produces the desired effect. The numbers represent the probability that the number of successes could be explainable by chance alone. The numbers represent every measurable parameter of the experiment. Oops, I think I just gave it away with that word.

You see, numbers are avoided by most every purveryor of the paranormal on the planet, because the numbers clearly show that their claims have no meaning. Whether it's remote viewing, ESP or astral healing, the numbers show that there is no effect beyond what is explainable by chance alone.

In science, numbers are everything. Medical procedures and drugs are evaluated on the numbers. New kinds of computer hardware are evaluated on the numbers. Subatomic particles and quantum effects are evaluated on the numbers. But where are your numbers, AstralWar? Have you kept records of the healings you have done? Have you tried to keep track of (or even noticed) your failures? Have you tried to determine how many times your healings have actually produced measurable results? Have you even measured the results? Until you can say "yes" to these questions, your claims will not be taken seriously.

First you need to produce results, then you need to document your results. Then you need to do some math in order to determine whether the results you have achieved exceed those explainable by chance alone. Then you will have taken the first step towards a genuine scientific determination of the truth of your claims.

In science, numbers are everything. In pseudoscience, numbers are nothing. That's the difference.

Okay, so someone can feel that you're doing something, right?

I suggest the following experiment. Set up a cardboard screen, with two holes for the receiver's hands. Make sure the receiver cannot see you or know what you are doing at any time. Flip a coin. On heads, apply energy to the person's right hand. On tails, apply energy to their left hand. It is important that you do this without touching them at all. Or if touching is required, make sure that you touch both hands, but channel energy into only one. Get the receiver to note down which hand they felt the energy in. Repeat the experiment at least twenty times.

By purely random chance, between eight and twelve times, they will be right. If there is some kind of effect occurring, they will be right more often. Thirteen to sixteen correct answers will draw attention. Seventeen to twenty right answers may mean that you've actually got something that merits further investigation. The more times you repeat the experiment, the more reliable your numbers will be.

BTW, this experiment is a virtual duplicate of one designed and conducted by nine-year-old (in 1996) Emily Rosa, to test the efficacy of Therapeutic Touch.

This isn't sarcasm, but until Astral War actually addresses his claims instead of asking vapid/cold readingesque questions why should he or his claims be taken seriously? Thus far little he has posted amounts to more than cold reading or advice Dr. Phil would offer.
