I noticed that page says there is a wi-fi hotspot at the pool. Doesn't say whether its free or somehow tied to the account you would pay for to have the wi-fi in your room.

You've never been to Fremont Street?!? I wish I'd known that, we'd have gone!! I love it, but I didn't bother to make the time this year.

Consider this a very premature offer for us to, unlike TAM 6, actually do something during TAM 7 other than just sleep together.

Actually, it looks like it could be a fun little out-of-the-way place to visit, distinguished or not. It might be nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the strip proper. The overall pricing seems good and much less expensive than the main strip. Did I see about $3.00 for the breakfast buffet? You sure can't find anything like that on the strip anymore.

Of course, the only things that really matter are if they have cheap Craps tables and the capability to host a proper poker tourney.

I was only in a league when I was about ten years old. Have not been bowling more than a dozen times since the age of 18.

But yes, we do have a lot of bowling alleys in Michigan.

True, the $10 tables at the Flamingo were a little rich for my blood, although it did pay off with the last shooter. $5 tables would be much more fun and maybe we can convince a few others to join us.
 
As I've said before, I'm planning to go to TAM in order to go to TAM, not to Vegas. I really couldn't care less about getting out of the hotel, and I doubt I'd be doing any touristy stuff (although I suppose I'm obliged to get at least one photo). What's the deal about the Strip anyway? What's the big attraction? Meh, you can keep it. I'm going there for the people.

Art, I've no idea whether you've visited the States before. I always worry about foreigners who only come to the States for TAM in Vegas and walk away with a very skewed vision of America. The strip is a crazy place. It seems I average about one trip per year to Vegas. With every new trip, the place has managed to re-invent itself. This time it was the new mega-complex called City Center (I think). Supposedly, it's the most expensive private development in the history of the U.S., about 7 billion dollars, IIRC. And it's a monster. I'd say it's well over half-way complete and might be open by TAM7.

But your point is well-taken. I've speculated why "The Strip" continues to have such an appeal with TAM organizers. Might it be that there is probably more conference room square footage per capita than just about anywhere else and therefore might be cheaper to organize? Or could it be that Mr. Randi values the participation of Penn & Teller? Jeff Wagg did mention that they were looking at other venues in other cities.

With the exception of the forum party which was across the street at Caesar's, I pretty much stayed at the Flamingo and hung out with the skeptic peeps. I would have been happy to do that at any hotel in any city. However, as long as the meeting is held in Vegas, I will partake in those activities which will remain in Vegas.:o

Affirmative on South Point July 9, and they're thinking about (but have not yet planned) having a TAM in the UK because TAM is getting so popular.

But I dunno. I loved that there were people from so many different countries all together at TAM6. We may retain that small-group-intimacy by breaking up into smaller TAMs, but we'd lose the diversity within the groups.

And if South Point has 1200-some-odd rooms, we can really take the whole thing over as one big TAM group (discussion in the forum party thread).

Whoa, whoa...

TAM isn't breaking up, just because there are smaller TAMs elsewhere. For large values of "small", of course! :)

Look at it as branching out - or, reaching out, if you like. Yes, there's Da Biggie, but then, there could also be the odd-one-out, in your vicinity, for your convenience.

Who knows? There could be a TAM Europe, a TAM South America, a TAM (South East) Asia, a TAM Africa, etc, in addition to the "Big TAM".

Maybe - just maybe - TAMs are what skeptics need to be really powerful?

We sure can't ignore the impact that Big TAM has on people - can we?

They should do a "TAM" in Amsterdam. It's a nice central European location
with lots of interesting..ahem..."night life". Maybe I could even go then. :(

They could call it AmsterTAM ...
