The Rules to the world according to gnomes, as I see them forming up here;

1. Anything a black politician does is wrong.

2. Anything a black person does is wrong.

3. All black people hate all white people.

4. All black people are morally inferior to all white people.

Did I miss anything?

We are talking about something releated to patriotism what has this got to do with polite and respectful behavior?

are you suggesting only a racist would recognize the external biological differences between whites, blacks, asians, hispanics, native americans, native australians, and indians/pakistanis?

I have to say, that podium badge is too much for me. I don't see it as hysterically as Jerome does, but it does curdle in my stomach. It smacks of Bush's "Western White House" tackiness.

If there's a line between really, really liking Obama and idolizing him, that badge is over the line. It's almost like a big Kick Me sign. Here's hoping we never see it again (at least from the Obama campaign).

If you read what I wrote, you'll see that I was talking about it being disrespectful. It was others who were calling it unpatriotic or anti-American.

His campaign is prone to rookie mistakes like this. It is either that or incredible arrogance, If it is the former the plaque will go away but, if it is arrogance it just feeds a perception of him that is already out there.

(b) Whoever, except as authorized under regulations promulgated by the President and published in the Federal Register, knowingly manufactures, reproduces, sells, or purchases for resale, either separately or appended to any article manufactured or sold, any likeness of the seals of the President or Vice President, or any substantial part thereof, except for manufacture or sale of the article for the official use of the Government of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.

Well he should be fine under section (a) as quoted above as that seal is not a likeness of the great seal. Similar but not a likeness. He could be in trouble under section (b) but only if running for President as the nominee of one of the two major parties is not considered "official use of the Government of the United States."
