Kucinich Introduces 35 Articles of Impeachment

What the hell would impeachment do? He only has six months left anyway and can't even get Republicans to support him. And he can't even be sent to jail for being impeached, only disgraced.

He's already disgraced. I'm fine with that.
The point is that at some point in the past 7 years, Congress should have impeached Bush. The fact that they didn't makes them complicit in his crimes, and those few who will openly call for impeachment can at least live with the fact that they tried to do the right thing.

Maybe trying to do the right thing in the face of certain failure is something worthwhile.

It appears to me that the many on the left want to criminalize routine politics and the historic tension between the Executive and Legislative branches. Every article in the "impeachment" indictment has been violated in whole or in part by the majority of US presidents. The closest to violating all of them was FDR who is rated as one of the greatest presidents of our time. I guess if that is what y'all want to focus on for the rest of the election season I should thank you but, I really am amazed that you would throw away Obama's election for a complete political disaster for the democrats.

I find your entire position to be both disingenuous and against the very best of American values.

Then I guess the prom date out of the question?

...and then some.

Your position is, as near as I can tell, a combination of an admission of guilt, a smearing of FDR, and a slap in the face to the rule of law. You admit that Bush is a criminal, accuse other presidents including FDR of being fellow criminals, and then basically declare "Who cares about criminal activity? It is an election year!"

You need to calm down. Bush has committed no crimes. Every president in our history has jeolously protected his constitutional powers against that of a hostile congress. Kucinich is just a little clown that has decided to spend his time grandstanding to the peanut gallery while the democratic leadership pats him on the head to keep him the hell away from them. Bush will leave office in 2009, will dedicate his library and enjoy his retirement. He will not be impeached, he will not stand trial in the Hague. He beat you. Live with it.

Your position is stupid, disingenuous, and anti-American. You should have quit while you were only a little behind.

I can live with that. You, on the other hand, have to live with the fact that the "moron chimp" has driven you to insanity and impotence.

I know you've heard this before, Tricky, but it apparently bears repeating. It's not about Bush; it's about precedent. I do not want ANY future president of any party to enjoy the precedents set by Bush. His policies and practices that have skirted with - or even violated - constitutional muster must be smacked down.

Even if impeachment is no longer possible after he leaves office, some kind of criminal proceedings should be brought to bear to signal future administrations that extra-constitutional actions will engender severe legal penalties.

This is an incredible statement. Torture? Spying on Americans? Treason? Etc. Clearly, we have a divergent world view.

In this I am in complete agreement. Mores the pity.

All I can do now is pity you. You admit that you support a criminal and that you hate America's values and laws, and your only consolation is that the criminal you support will likely get away with his crimes.

*shrugs*

I'm done with you, really. Anything further would only make me feel even worse for you.:(

Please pray for me.

So let's see, LL. which were the things here that didn't matter to you?

You seem to have misunderstood me. I didn't say that these things didn't matter to me. I said that they don't matter. They don't matter because George Bush will never, ever, ever, ever be impeached. These crimes, if they are crimes, will never lead anywhere. Long, long after the Bush administration is gone, some guy could win some civil judgment somewhere based on some of this, but even that won't matter - policy will have already been changed by that point. Prefering a list of impeachable offenses against George Bush is like calling Tinky Winky gay because he carries a purse: they are not consistent with reality.

Despite my wish to see President George W. Bush thrown out of office, I would rather have seen it earlier than this. He's a Lame Duck, with 6 months before he leaves office.

At this point it would be a symbolic gesture at best and would make Dick Cheney President.

Too bad Dennis doesn"t seem to be interested in what Vladimir Putin and Ramzan Kadyrov are doing in Chechnya. Maybe he should compare the Kadyrovtsy and George W. Bush. Putin lied more then Bush did.

Good point. I assume that Kucinich's refusal to bring impeachment charges against Kadyrovtsy is entirely due to the fact that he is an inconsistent partisan hack and has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he isn't actually a member of the House of Representatives of Russia.

For those who lost a son/daughter would they be fine with that?

My hope is the next President doesn't do a Ford and pardon Bush and friends to "heal the country".

Your argument is "He did it so that makes it ok". That is the dumbest thing I've seen posted here.

Is this what the Republicans call "Family values"?
