It seems as though Bill Maher is coming out with a movie soon; it is called Religulous. I am not sure if it is response to Stein's movie.

To go along with the movie, a website has been launched.

I poked around a bit. It looks like there are news stories, e-cards, and other interactive things. It may be silly propaganda, serious inquiry, or a mix of both.

I just though some of you would be interested.

Seems to be a simple parody site of Beliefnet. I'm not certain how informative it will be.

beliefnet actually isn't a bad site. They have a lot of reliable information and approach the topics from an academic perspective. I really enjoyed the information regarding the founding fathers of america and religion. They did a great job of busting the myths of our "christian" nation.

Having looked through the website, I can't help but make comparisons between it and The Onion. Such as, "The Onion is really funny. Disbeliefnet totally sucks."

Ya I tend to agree; the e-cards are not particularly witty of funny, It seems to have borrowed krelnik's idea too.

Bill Maher is a strange chap. He slams theism with every chance he gets, yet still believes in a deistic God.

I got my start in internet debating on beliefnet and was a loyal poster for three years. I agree, it's actually a very good and very fair site. There are occasional lapses in judgment with their featured stories, but they did their best. I haven't been there in a very long time though, and scanning it just now I realize they've really changed the format, but nothing particularly wrong jumps out at me.

Maybe he is just having trouble letting go of god.

I agree the ecards aren't the best but more power to him for starting the site and producing the movie. Theists are quite annoyed atheists and agnostics are speaking up and calling BS on god beliefs. There is a backlash. But the fact there is little backlash when people call BS on astrology or homeopathy says a lot.

Maybe it is the problem of sheer numbers of god believers vs the number of astrology & homeopathy believers or perhaps the difference is the former's political and social clout. Nonetheless, theists don't seem to see the hypocrisy in their global missions to convert the world to their god beliefs and their objections to atheists promoting rational thinking.

He seems pretty excited about not believing in God, and promoting the upcoming movie in his interview on Larry King (on the site). Maybe that's someone just dressed like him. :)

For some reason, I had confused Bill Maher with Bill Moyers and wondered when he'd developed quite that sort of sense of humor. :p

The site is worth going to just to see what "ads by google" pop up there. I don't think the advertisers are getting their money's worth.

Isn't he also an anti-vaccine guy too? All sorts of CAM beliefs? I know it's not on the subject of religion, but I think it shows his critical thinking skills.
