"Expelled Exposed" - New and Improved!

I'm glad to see expelled exposed doing so well. ID is a crock, and an outrageous one. Having people try to force it into schools amounts to state endorsed religion, and it is unconstitutional.

What really made me sick was all the pro-ID pro-Expelled threads on the Amazon website under their Science forum. Silly me for looking at science books there.

You think that is bad, look at the webpage for Expelled on THE Internet Movie Database. That will make you weep.
What is sad is that "anti Establishment, anti Authority" tone that the film is using to sell it's woo seems to be working.

I don't think I can willingly submit myself to such horrors.

Can we continue making links like this Expelled on this thread or should we branch out to other subforums and other forums?

I'm reminded of 2002 when Phil Plait was doing to Nancy Lieder what RSLancaster has basically done to the frog voiced bitch and during TAM 1 he showed a Google screencap where entering "Planet X" had his badastrony.com page as the number one hit. :D

I'm pretty sure that the way page rank works, a single link from a domain is just about as good as many links from one domain. So we're not gonna boost it much further than we already have by the single link from randi.org.

Other domains, however, can make a big difference, so going to other forums and posting is crucial. That is unless those forums insert the nofollow attribute into your html links. If you want to boost page rank you need to look at the source code of the page where you posted the link and check if the rel="nofollow" attribute is added to your tags. You should also check the robots.txt file that will fall in the main directory of the top domain to see if it tells the google web crawler to ignore sub-forum pages. (For example: www.google.com/robots.txt)
I don't think the randi forums do these things so it can still be leveraged for pagerank, but many other forums do.

Hey, the producers of the film have noticed that we are doing this, and are whining about it. They released a press release this morning, which is mainly about the lawsuit with animation company XVIVO, but read on...

What a bunch of children. Next they'll be complaining to their moms.

Yes, any attempt at criticism will be misconstrued as "See! Look! it is a conspiracy! They are all against us! Big meanies trying to hold us down!"

It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

It looks like they are getting hammered with traffic. They probably reverted to the previous design (which has fewer graphics and the like) as a defensive maneuver so the site doesn't go down completely.

The website Expelled Exposed is back up to tip-top shape now. So pass that link around everywhere you can...

Btw krelnik, thanks for the heads up on the linky / Google rating trick. I've already posted "how to's" on increasing the Google rating to about 4 different blogs. :D

The dishonesty of the entire ID crowd and the Expelled producers is truly breathtaking. Hey, maybe the whole ID thing is true -- it seems clear that God created LIARS!

Oh by the way, Expelled The Movie if it might do any good.

:)

The dishonesty is breathtaking.
The only people I have a certain respect for are the people marketing this tripe. Selling a film pushing Fundenmentalist Religion by tapping in the Anti Establishment",All Authority Sucks" mentality that is so prevaliant was a clever move,if a dispicable one.

Be aware that there's an evolutionary arms-race going on out there between the dominant life-form (Google Adsense) and eager parasites. It's something I've only become aware of in the last couple of years. There's a whole online industry based around exploiting Google, and serious money can be made. Not banker-level serious, but comfortable lifestyle serious.

The sharks wont be circling Expelled because it's too exposed to the spotlight. Which is why we (the grass-roots) can make a difference, as evidenced by the whining we've already provoked.

It gets better. Not only are they looking at a copyright lawsuit concerning their intellectual theft of Harvard / XVIVO's "Inner Life" animations, but it now seems like the geniuses behind "Expelled" could be in trouble concerning music for the soundtrack as well.

Why? Check it out... they pissed off Yoko Ono!!!

Cool

I saw a TV commercial for the movie already. It highlighted a scene with a very Jack Chickesque Biology professor being flummoxed when a student challenges him on the issue of the origin of life. That's what it comes down to?

I saw it too. The teacher begins explaining evolution, and Stein interrupts with, "Excuse me! How did life begin in the first place?" It then shows him sitting outside the principal's office as if he's in trouble for asking such a question. I really wanted to answer his question with, "I don't know and neither do you!"

Well perhaps it was the "" in your title but a search for, expelled exposed, did not find this thread, so I started another one. Oh Well.

Here's my post from the other thread so we can retire that one.
I didn't see this link posted yet in a search of titles re the movie Expelled. So hopefully it isn't a duplicate thread.

Also, the makers of this animation, The Inner Life of a Cell, are apparently suing the producers of Expelled over copyright infringement.

It is a great animation. I haven't seen the Expelled rip off yet but I understand from Pharyngula that Expelled made their own version to try to avoid the infringement. I'd link to the Pharyngula blog entry but the site is mucked up. Not sure what's going on. I'll try later.

OK folks, I've been to the city and I've seen the elephants...

Wow! So much worse than I ever imagined.

First, I'm happy to say that on opening night in the suburbs of Seattle at 9:50pm on Friday night, Expelled played to an almost empty theater. A third of the audience was our own group of 13 skeptics. Behind us were about 20 more people laughing and joking at the same parts in the movie as we did. Down in front of us was a handful of better dressed people who were more subdued. Don't know what they were thinking.

The entire movie was some of the most blatant propaganda I've seen since the 50's black and white films we make fun of now (much of which was interspersed throughout the movie).

The movie opens with Stein repeating the word, freedom, a good 20-30 times.

The entire argument was a slew of supposed scientists claiming there is evidence for Intelligent Design and it is being suppressed. Not one single mention of any of the evidence was in the movie. Behe and his irreversible complexity were not mentioned once.

And there was complete misrepresentation of where we are in studying abiogenesis and inadequate discussion of what genetic science tells us about evolution theory. They clearly misrepresented what science they did mention.

Lots of denial this was about religion or Creationism, no, it was about the freedom to entertain the alternative theory of 'a designer' as opposed to natural forces. Supposedly the issue was the forgone conclusion that evolution did not require a god. Hard to square those contradictions but then they didn't bother to try anyway.

The Dover trial was not mentioned even though a segment went on about how the courts should not be dictating science.

And there was constant referral to the entire scientific community as some single authoritarian group.

And all through the entire film were pictures of Nazis, concentration camps, the Berlin Wall, Stalin, every kind of 50s film clips of oppression and the red menace you can think of.

But they saved the best for last. They equated 'Darwinism' with the eugenics of Hitler executing mentally and physically disabled people and they said in no uncertain terms teaching evolution turned people away from God.

The movie ends with Stein getting a standing ovation while he tells everyone everywhere to speak out against this terrible oppression of freedom every chance they get.

Unbelievable. Such blatant propaganda it was mind boggling.

I'll be going either tomorrow night or Monday during the day. I can't imagine I'll enjoy sitting through it all, but I'll persevere.
