Most atheists do not know what science says about our origins

I know ;)

I'm just in a bad mood. I apologise.
But it does seem that things are going the way of navel-gazing, belly-button-lint-picking schools of the 1970's.

No evidence needed, as long as we can have an interesting discussion.
That's what LSD was for.

No... they are just louder and more belligerant than the others... put the few blowhards on ignore, and the whole forum becomes magically brilliant.

And if nothing else, the woos come here willingly... and once they've shared their views with you, they've invited your opinion in return. :D

(It can be great stress relief... allowing you to be a little more patient with the credulons in your reality)

Please find new phraseology. You know that the English language does provide a vast selection of words from which to choose to make the same point over, and over again. This prevents one from becoming stale.

You have evidence that time is linear and not circular? Please present this so as to impart new knowledge! I do enjoy new information!
How about the fact that one moment in time has never been observed to repeat itself? Okay, that's negative evidence, let me try again.

One of the most successful physical theories ever constructed (Einstein's General Relativity) supports linear time and does not support circular time.

And how about that parsimony again? Why postulate circular time when there does not appear to be any need to depart from what we all perceive intuitively? Scientists depart from the common-sense explanation only when there is reason to do so.

What is your reason for wanting to depart from common sense?

Should be the JRRF now.

Odd. I must have missed this sea change in content. We've had religious woos, paranormal woos, political woos and just plain woo woo woos around since I've been a member.

I'm not sure who you're referring to. If it's Jerome, then that doesn't really summarise his posts. They mostly consist of what he thinks of as 'smart' one-liners on various topics.

Jerome is constantly challenged, but consistently fails to produce any evidence to back up his statements, or often even any explanation of what he's actually arguing. In my book, he's a troll, a self-admitted one at that.

but then, why does that ID story more scientific than other ID stories? [/quoite]

What?

That's just not true. I'm always willing to survey the evidence and give it complete consideration. The only thing I ask is to be willing to accept the same level of analysis I give all data.

I don't trust your analysis.

Fair, but making man out of dirt and making women out of a rib doesn't really describe the mechanism and contradicts the scientifically proven evidence that humans share common ancestry with chimpanzees. In this regard, it can be said that the bible account is conclusively wrong.

The Bible doesn't use the word "dirt". YOU DO! It is common knowledge that all the elements essential for constructing the human body can be found in soil. So your surprize that the creator should extract his material from the soil is a bit weird. As is your astonishment that the creator could take genetic material from one human's body in order to create another.
Cloning is done by humans today and they aren't almighty.

So if ID is true, it isn't likely that it is the christian god who did it.

That's your unsolicited opinion as opposed to millions who disagree with you, an opinion which is very common among atheists and an opinion which should be irrelevant to the discussion and one which I am really not interested in. However, you should know that if biblically-garbled statements are made I will be forced to contiunue to set the matter straight. So if you really don't wish to talk about the biblical God, or anything else biblical-then I suggest that you try to refrain from the constant biblical misrepresentations which keep cropping up in your arguments.

Radrook is absolutely right... not only do fundamentalist Christians believe in ID-- but so do Fundamental atheists. And the Pastafarians. The intelligent designer is just as likley to be Allah or the FSM.

Should we not stay on the first point before examining any others? This only seems logical.
If you are going to claim I'm off topic then at least have the common courtesy to a.) tell me you are ignoring them and b.) tell me which ones are off topic.

Ha!--Jerome thinks he knows what is "logical".

(the incompetents never know they are the incompetents).

Attack the argument, not the person. No more personal attacks going forward. I would have thought you would realize that after just being handed a three-day suspension back on March 31 for similar activities.

On what basis?

Ummmm... Soil is dirt.

That's your unsolicited opinion as opposed to millions who disagree with you...

So when scientific establishment come to a conclusion, regardless of the evidence, you call that a "bandwagon fallacy." When significant number of religionists believe in a superstition, based on primitive and outdated assumptions about reality, then it's not?
