Maybe we underestimate the communication and reasoning skills of our marine mammal bretheren:

Interesting. A few years ago there was a news story from NZ about dolphins protecting a group of lifesavers from a great white.

Their cousins the Orcas have been known to hunt whales and to co-operate with humans in small-scale whaling.

Yes the old Twofold bay opperation. The pack of killer whales would bring the sperm whale in close. Humans made the kill, got the carcase and the Orcas got the tongue - everyone does happy dances

Yeah, we have a load of dolphin stories over here and all of the ones I know of appear to be completely true.
