I shouldn't be surprised by this but..... *sigh* this type of paranoia is all too common these days. This beauty is all over the place with conspiracies in the drug war being linked to Operation Gladio and all sorts of other things. Personally I blame SNL and marsupials. :D

Is the CIA Behind the Iraqi "Insurgents" -- and Global Terrorism?

Particularly relevant bit:
Witness the US Joint Chiefs discussion of "Operation Northwoods" back in 1962, a plan to blow up U.S. "assets"--including U.S. citizens--in order to justify an invasion of Cuba. Later, US Army Field Manual 30-31B, entitled "Stability Operations Intelligence - Special Fields," dated March 18, 1970 and signed by Gen. William C Westmoreland, promoted terrorist attacks (and the planting of false evidence) in public places which were then to be blamed on "communists" and "socialists." It called for the execution of terrorist attacks throughout Western Europe, carried out through a network of covert US/NATO armies, in order to convince European governments of "the communist threat."

In case you're wondering US Army Field Manual 30-31B was an admitted bit of forgery done by Soviet Intelligence which was distributed first in Thailand and then in Turkey in an effort to convince people that the CIA was behind many terrorist acts blamed on radical Leftist groups. It didn't help the CIA that there were cases of neofascists conducting acts of terrorism (particularly in Italy) and making it look like it was done by radical Leftists. However actual proof of CIA complicity has yet to be seen.

I guess it proves that twoofers are incapable of vetting their sources.

They were so SURE, when they heard of Operation Gladio, that they HAD THEIR SMOKING GUN.

Never mind.

Can you please source the forgery information? Thanks.

We don't number our field manuals with letters!

At least, I've never seen one. If there's a supplement or addition to a field manual, it's numbered like so: FM 7-0.1

There is no FM 7-0.1 for you pedants; I'm merely demonstrating the numbering system.

It was by a confession of a KGB defector during U.S. House Hearings Before the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence "Soviet Active Measures" 97th Congress. July 13, 14, 1982.

The basics of similar operations are talked about here.

But you're in the army and can't be trusted. The only people who can authoritatively comment on this is people that have never been in the army and have never seen a field manual. Truth members are obvious candidates for that.

Yes, but I was speaking to the rational, sane people on the board. :p
