[Moderated]Did Chief Nigro call Silverstein? The answer is finally available

There were search and rescue operations well inside the evacuated collapse zone. It's is not a literal turn of events: evacuation (pulling) -> collapse. The building collapsed after the decision was made. There was a time differential of 3 hours.

Does Larry say, "they made that decision to pull and a few hours later the buildng collapsed."

Or did he say, "they made that decision to pull and then we watched the building collapse."

Please tell me we're not still arguing that!

The decision to halt firefighting efforts was made about 2 PM, whereas collapse was about 5:30. This is easily verified, no matter what Silverstein said.

Seriously, even Killtown stopped harping on this line of reasoning over a year ago.

Doesn't Larry kind of make it seem like the decision was made and then they watched the building collapse? If so, what are they pulling if no crew was in the bldg?

Time compression. Human memory is not perfect. It's possible that when recalling the events of that day during the interview, given everything that was going on that day, the time between his phone conversation and the collapse of the building seemed quite short.

It may also be possible that he felt the amount of time that passed between his phone conversation and the collapse was irrelevant in the context of the interview.

So Larry gets a pass, but Willie Rodriguez has to have perfect memory. I remind all you guys that Larry takes credit for this decision:

I said, 'We've had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it.

Again, if it's the fire crew why would Larry presume to know what the "smartest thing to do is"? And what commander would even listen to his advice?

One thing we might all agree on is that Larry is talking straight out of his a**.

Silverstein isn't constantly trying to sell himself or promote "the truth".

One more time, RedIbis. Read it slowly if you must. The full quote:

Larry Silverstein said:
I remember getting a call from the fire department commander, telling me that they were not sure they were gonna be able to contain the fire, and I said, 'We've had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it.' And they made that decision to pull and then we watched the building collapse.

1) He doesn't "presume to know" that it would be the smartest thing to do, hence the use of his word "maybe".

2) He says flat-out that it was the FDNY's decision ultimately.

The claim that he takes credit for the decision is low and intellectually bankrupt, even for you, RedIbis.

One thing we might all agree on is that Larry is talking straight out of his a**.

I have yet to see reasonable support for that claim.

Red if you keep harping on this ludicrous Silverstein thing much longer, you're going to get accused of being COINTELPRO by your own movement.

Don't twist my words and then call me a liar.

Your efforts here over the months indicate that you can't distinguish the truth from lies.

The fact remains is that Silverstein was quoted in an interview months after 9/11 for NOVA.

Gosh.

An interview long after the fact. A summary. And the interviewer didn't react with surprise. And PBS didn't use his interview to broadcast loudly to the world Silverstein's supposed explosive statement in its next news broadcast, or even to use it to promote the NOVA show. They just broadcast a comment Silverstein made, in full knowledge, months after the event.

And it gets you all hot and bothered, Red Ibis. Or you're smart enough to know you're lying.

I'm amazed at the way these truthers are ravenously attacking this, as it's such a minor detail. :boggled:

I asked Chief Nigro about this, and he was kind to respond very quickly. <snip>

Thank you, ref.

As you know, I have always been of the view that that there was insufficient evidence to support the assumption or the assertion that Chief Nigro spoke to Mr. Silverstein that day, and I thank you very much for your fine work in clarifying the matter.

While the resident twoofers will, predictably, go wild (because they are incapable of comprehending the significance of facts, evidence, or reality), this is a good thing for rationalists and a bad thing for twoofers. The twoofers are just too stupid to realize it.

I'll leave it at that for now - while the twoofers run their inevitable impotent course without realizing that they are shooting themselves in their collective feet... again - before elaborating further, but thanks again. Excellent work! :)

Wow, its fun to watch Red Ibis squirm. The bottom line; Silverstein had nothing to cover up. NO doubt he talked to somebody, likely somebody from City Hall, and whomever that was never passed on the message. (Communications was in near failure that day.)
According to his spokesman, Silverstein talked to "the Fire Department Commander on site at Seven World Trade Center".

Facts: On September 9, 2005, Mr. Dara McQuillan, a spokesman for Silverstein Properties, issued the following statement on this issue:

Seven World Trade Center collapsed at 5:20 p.m. on September 11, 2001, after burning for seven hours. There were no casualties, thanks to the heroism of the Fire Department and the work of Silverstein Properties employees who evacuated tenants from the building.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) conducted a thorough investigation of the collapse of all the World Trade Center buildings. The FEMA report concluded that the collapse of Seven World Trade Center was a direct result of fires triggered by debris from the collapse of WTC Tower 1.

In the afternoon of September 11, Mr. Silverstein spoke to the Fire Department Commander on site at Seven World Trade Center. The Commander told Mr. Silverstein that there were several firefighters in the building working to contain the fires. Mr. Silverstein expressed his view that the most important thing was to protect the safety of those firefighters, including, if necessary, to have them withdraw from the building.

Later in the day, the Fire Commander ordered his firefighters out of the building and at 5:20 p.m. the building collapsed. No lives were lost at Seven World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

Firestone! I hadn't seen you around much recently!

Also, you know, good points and the such...

Ref, for the sake of curiousity could you post the whole of Nigro's reply?

Thanks.

The only part missing is the part, where he repeats that he didn't need the owner's approval for his decision, as we all know. I have posted everything relevant to this topic. I don't like posting people's e-mail's too much, so I hope that will do :)

RedIbis: You still haven’t answered this question: In what way was Silverstein telling the Fire Department what the best plan would be (even if that was what he was doing) an example of him lying?

Does Larry say, "they made that decision to pull and a few hours later the buildng collapsed." Or did he say, "they made that decision to pull and then we watched the building collapse."

Literally speaking, he said the latter. However, the two meanings are in no way mutually exclusive.
