Science leads folk to God!

Francis Bacon, sometimes called the father of rationalism, said that a little science can lead men away from God but more science will lead him back.

Some great science was shown this Tuesday on Great Britain’s BBC. If you go the BBCs web site you can still watch the whole programme, just search for Horizon and watch the Feb 12 2008 show.

It features an experiment proofing we can all see into the future!

The experiment, which has been repeated and verified many times
, shows that skin conductance consistently rises at least 3 seconds before subjects are shown an unpleasant image, but not before they see a nice one.

The protocol ensures neither the subject or even the folk running the experiment can know what image is going to be in advance. Not by any natural means anyway!

Its fascinating that everyone demonstrates this limited ability to look into the future. You don’t need rare individuals like you do for certain other demonstrations of the supernatural,

Many of you will be aware of limited pre-cognition from your everyday life, for example by the common experience of knowing who is calling on the phone before you answer.

If all have this limited ability, its doesn’t take much imagination to conclude that certain rare folk may be blessed with the gift to look further into the future and bring more of what they see into conscious awareness. In other words – prophets like Isaiah from the bible.

Gallup polls show that belief in the supernatural is rising across the West.
Science like the above is causing belief to rise faster among the more higher education one has – Google "higher education fuels stronger belief in ghosts" to see a study demonstrating this.

Education will always dispel sceptical myths.

As some of you already know, many who pretend to be sceptics really are not. They dishonestly doctor evidence from their own experiments to cover up results that point to the supernatural. Google “CSICOP” (now CSI) and go to the wikki entry for example.

Some of these pseudoskeptics are as spiritually aware as us Christians - I see no need to spell it out but there are reasons why certain prizes are never claimed.

Happily pseudoskeptics do not control main stream science or media. :D To those of you who are truly open minded – check out the science! It can cleanse you of your unbelief. Then you will be able to pray to Jesus with an open heart and know the love of God. Things will be so much better then!

To those of you who are committed to scepticism regardless of the evidence, you have my respect for getting your message across so well despite the overwhelming evidence that the supernatural exists. But im sorry skeptics, you’re fighting a war you’ve already lost.

Are you referring to Radin's work? If so you will find many a thread on this Forum discussing those results?

I must have missed something. I'll assume for the sake of argument that this 3 seconds into the future experiment is valid. Now, how does that lead to a belief in God, or to Christianity and Jesus in particular? Could you list the steps you used to get to this conclusion? I have this sneaking supposition that your logic is flawed.

My emphasis.

You seem to be confused about the meaning of the word "skeptic".

Thanks Darat, just read a few of the threads that come up on a search for Radin. Can’t see much discussion so far , just his name being mentioned by believers, sceptics don’t seem to want to talk about him much. Will have another look later.

I less than three logic: To be fair the experiment doesn’t directly proof Christianity to be true. But what this sort of science does achieve is to dispel the atheist / naturalist myth that no supernatural exist.
Once a skeptic accepts there is a supernatural they are more able to pray to Jesus with an open mind. Then Christ Himself can lead skeptics the rest of the way to the Truth.
So a more precise title for the thread would be Science leads folk some of the way to God. Not as catchy though!

Look a little further down in that quote:

Perhaps this confusion is being caused by his meaning of the word "evidence". :)

Hi thatsoundagain. Fair comment I should have said psuedo-sketicism - the affectation of skepticism when really you are close minded or perhaps even belief but are determined to push a certain worldview beacause you think it is for the best, or as it serves your own selfish purposes, or even as you an agent of powers hostile to Christ.

LOL, did you ever consider for a minute that you are completely wrong, and people reject your beliefs because there's good reason to reject them?

There is abundant evidence Joe!
That is why over 90% of the worlds population believes in some form of divinity (google religion by adherance) Many are granted totally convincing evidence on a personal level. As per the opening post there is also scientific evidence of the supernatural.

Libel, much?

Can you post a link to the evidence from the OP? Because, right now, we have nothing to go on but your assertion about a TV show, and that's not enough. You see, skeptical people require evidence, not unfounded claims and appeals to popularity.

If the evidence is so abundant, you should have no problem linking us to the peer-reviewed research on the subject.

What does "God" mean? I'm sorry, I don't know the definition of the word and have never heard one that makes sense.

What is unpleasant to one person may not be unpleasant to someone else. Who decides unpleasant.

hi fagin, lets not get into relativism here. Theres such a thing as human universals and pics that for example show someone suffering or are plain ugly are almost universaly regarded as unpleasant.

Anyway if you look in Dr Radins science you'll see that the signs of stress continue after the picture is seen.

Except that he is under 25 posts.

I find that "evidence" for the supernatural can be explained in natural terms every time. I have looked for exceptions (to the detriment of my studies in more relevant matters, at times), and found none. Radin is not someone I am familiar with, but if you can provide some form of actual study, I would be willing to check it out. Of course, I don't expect to be convinced, but that doesn't mean that I cannot be.

We could get a name to Google, not "this guy on a TV show."

And, yeah, if it can be done repeatedly in a scientific way, then I'll be convinced... but not until then.

The most succint definition is that God is Love. Humans are made for love, God's love most of all.
God is also the creator of the natural world.
