The Libertarian party had alluded that they might forgo a nomination should Paul win (not going to happen). They are having their party convention in Denver and will be running a candidate. You need to understand though that the Libertarian party != libertarians necessarily, there's just as many, if not more factions within the Libertarian party and general umbrella of libertarianism as the large parties.

As it happens, that's why Ron Paul didn't win Louisiana, according to some reports:

Ron Paul finished second. His supporters reportedly mobbed the 11 polling places, but many of them could not participate because they were not registered Republicans. They were required to cast provisional ballots, many of which will not count. (The provisional ballots are part of the reason for the delay in tallying the results.)

If someone has a link to the OFFICIAL results, I will concede that RP only won second. But that won't happen until Ron Paul's challenge to the LAGOP is resolved.

That's something odd I've heard about big-L Libertarians. (Although Ron Paul was only a big-L Libertarian for a year, he's definitely of the same school of thought as a decent faction within that party.) On the one side, they're in conflict with minarchists who wish they could stop being so crazy and just focus on making government smaller through pragmatic incremental steps, but on the other side they're in conflict with anarcho-capitalists who feel that by working within the system they are violating the principles of noncoercion by using the state to destroy the state.

I really don't like libertarianism, or Ron Paul, but I don't like Paul because he's a conservative. I understand he's not a real libertarian, which is why his supporters frustrate me so much because they seem to think he is.
