Because the latest news was that the Anthrax strain came from
an US-military laboratory. From there it went silent.

That of course awakes my interest since I actually care about
the facts rather than using my bias to ignore the story.
 
From a letter the FBI sent to a Congressman:

Contrary to the assertions in your letter, the investigation into the anthrax attacks of 2001 has made significant progress and has been one of the largest and most complex investigations ever conducted. The FBI has devoted hundreds ofthousands of Agent-hours to the case and currently has 17 Special Agents assigned to a Task Force, along with 10 U.S. Postal Inspectors, who are dedicated to solving this case. Over the past five years, the investigation has spanned six continents, involved over 9,I00 witness interviews, 67 searches, and the issuance of 6,000 grand jury subpoenas. The information that has been developed as a result of these investigative efforts is not appropriate for disclosure at this time because the investigation remains active. I can advise you, however, that the FBI and its partners in this investigation have never been under any misconceptions about the character of the anthrax used in the attacks. On the contrary, since the earliest months of this investigation, we have consulted with the world's foremost scientific experts on anthrax and relevant bio-forensic sciences, both inside and outside the FBI. While there have been erroneous media reports about the character of the 2001 anthrax, the FBI's investigation has never been guided by such reports.

With regard to your request for a classified briefing, we must respectfully decline at this time. As you may recall, the FBI provided updates to you on the anthrax investigation on June 5, 2002, August 21,2002, and on April 1, 2003. We also provided briefings to other Members of Congress due to the national significance of this matter and the fact that anthrax-laced letters had been addressed to Members of the United States Senate. After sensitive information about the investigation citing Congressional sources was reported in the media, the Department of Justice and the FBI agreed that no additional briefings to Congress would be provided. Since we regard this as a criminal law enforcement matter, rather than an intelligence activity, a briefing to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence would not be appropriate nor consistent with our long-standing policy on pending matters.

In closing, I believe it is important to note that many complex investigations, such as the Unabomber case and the Centennial Park bombing in Atlanta, often take years to resolve. Like those, we intend to pursue this investigation to its conclusion and support the successful prosecution of the individual(s) responsible for these attacks.

Yes - the FBI keeps their mouths shut - even to congress. Nothing
new at all.

On the other hand, the current White House would love to publish
anything that would link Anthrax to Al Qaeda. Unfortunately, the
last info was that the Anthrax strain came from an US-based military
laboratory. After this revelation, the case pretty much was swept
under the carpet of "national security" - the card the White House
uses whenever it's getting muddy.

No surprise here.
 
If you think that the last news on it was that it was a strain similar to one that the US had at Fort Detrick then you are WAY behind, you have missed out on the entire Steve Hatfill incident and more, personally the last I heard was that they had determined from the minerals in it that it was likely made in the northeast of the US because the water had similar trace element in it.

You understand what that really means? The lab we gave the strain to in Germany was less than three years before the attacks! You better not get upset when we expose your country as the culprit. /joke (but that is how it works)

But that is what it really means, that it looks like the strain was under three years from the US lab strain. Not that the stuff was from a US lab. But then you may not understand what this small fact means.

Next, how do we know about the strain, in active investigation? Is the FBI telling us the whole story during the active investigation?

That's new to me and interesting at the same time. Do you have
sources for those new evolvements?

I honestly don't care if Germany or the US is involved. I'm merely interested
if the Terror-Bogeyman is involved or if it was a "home-brewn" issue.

You dismiss a statement from 2006 for being too old, yet the latest news you've heard is from late 2001 or early 2002?

Live in the ME and you'll soon know that many of the people here actually believe it. I recently had a conversation with an Egyptian Ph.d (Electrical Engineering I believe) in that the CIA was behind the British over throw of the Urabi Revolt....in 1881

If congressmen want access to privileged information, they'll have to learn to keep their mouths shut.

"Loose lips sink ships". Maybe Germany has never heard that phrase......
 
So because it came from a military facility (as if it's going to originate anywhere else) it automatically means it's an inside job? right because no disgruntled employees every steal stuff. And no employees can ever be bought. The only possibility can be a government inside jobs, and of course the Jews always have to be involved as well because...they are Jews.
