Moon Landing CTers

I wouldn't say that, though a few of the Apollo HP's did or still do promote 9/11 theories, some, like Eric Hufschmid, quite early on, however the mind set is very similar indeed. Of course it's not that different from even earlier conspriacy theories such as JFK and Pearl Habor as well, and likely had they had photos and film of the event probably Archduke Ferdinand's assassination too. I think that as long as people distrust their governments there will be conspiracies and conspriacists. The reason that 9/11 took off was not that it has anything real to it, but that it occured at exactly the right time. Serious distrust in the US Government mixed with the explosion of broadband allowing the message to get out faster and easier. Today any Joe can make a 10 min movie and have it being consumed by hundreds of people in mere minutes, something impossible even 10 years ago.

The mindset is indeed exactly my point.

From what I have seen they don't, which is a real shame, I'd love to see a return to Hadley Rile. Even at the time the crew were saying that they felt that they didn't have the time to do everything there that needed to be done and perhaps a future mission could return and do things like going down into the rille. Perhaps once the base is up and running and there is time we might see a return to Hadley, Descartes, or Taurus-Littrow.

I was thinking that they would be interested in seeing what the effects of 50 years or so had on the equipment.

I wouldn't think it would be the primary purpose but at some point I hope they would revisit at least one of the sites.

Wait for the colonies (sigh). Just don't ever name a computer "Mike".

the 911 truth movement owes its very existence to the intrepid Apollo Hoax Believer.

Who owe their existence to the "God was an Astronaut" believers

Who owe their existence to the "bermuda Triangle" believers

Who owe their existence to the UFO believers

And so and so forth

Novelty yes. Hmm couple greate problems for future CTs in that they will have a hard time comeing up with a new delivery method.

Anyone know where to get high quality NASA moon photos and videos? Aren't they like public domain or something?

Yup, you can order them from NASA if you want, or....

The Apollo Lunar Surface Journal has many high res scans of the images and compressed copies of Mark Grays Spacecraft Films archive footage. Of course you can order the archive footage that Mark has restored and put together on his Spacecrft Films DVDs and then there is this site where all you need to do to get High Res scans is enter the film canister roll number and photo frame number

Thanks Phantom Wolf for the site.

What format were the Moon videos originally shot in? Was it film? What size and what frame rate?

Think about what you just asked....

The video was taken from TV signals direct from the Moon. There is a lot more on the cameras and how they worked in NASA's archives which are searchable online.

The film was taken using 18mm DAC cameras. The frame rate varied depending on how it was set at the time by the operator.

Sorry, I should have said "motion pictures" instead of "videos".

So the motion pictures were not recorded on any medium on the moon at all, they were shot by television cameras on the moon, and broadcast back to earth ?

Were they standard NTSC signals? 29.97 frames per second? 486 scan lines, interlaced?

So there was no motion picture film shot on the moon?

A question for everyone, regarding the "no stars" argument:

I don't ever recall seeing stars in any of the other NASA photos/videos either. Not in video footage from Gemini or the many shuttle missions, not in the close-up shots of planets and moons taken by Voyager I/II and other probes, not anywhere.

If "no stars" means "fake", then how do the moon-landing hoaxers avoid saying that the entire US space program has been faked?

I actually believe we went to the moon.
Since its only a roughly 1000 miles away.
watch

woooooooo

Not to mention the whole USA - I mean a flag full of stars - where there should be no stars???????????? - But a Moon with no stars, that should be full of stars

I actually saw an interesting Apollo 11 documentary yesterday.

One thing caught my eye. I don't remember if I had heard about it before, but it was the "UFO" sighting they filmed through the crafts windows. The documentary said, there still is no certainty among NASA people as to what they actually saw.

What did they actually see? Has anyone looked into this any further?

Apollo HB already do that.
Arrgh, you had to remind me of that infuriating fact didn't you!

You may want to check out the series of books by Apogee Books, The NASA Mission Reports. Here's the page for the book on Apollo 17 as an example.

The books include such things as training and engineering reports, debriefing transcripts, technical diagrams, and much more. Many of the books also include a CD which contains high resolution digital versions of the photos and copies of the television footage taken on the mission.

Ok, found the Apollo 16 'ufo' explained.

http://www.nasa.gov/vision/space/travelinginspace/no_ufo.html

Maybe Buzz Aldrin saw something similar.

ETA: When Aldrin appeared on The Howard Stern Show on August 15, 2007, Howard Stern asked him about the supposed UFO sighting. Aldrin confirmed that there was no such sighting of anything deemed extraterrestrial, and said they were and are "99.9 percent" sure that the object was the detached panel.

I close the case :D
