NIST WTC FAQ Updated

already a thread on this I do believe...may have slipped to page 3 or 4 here.

TAM:)

I find the search function here can be a bit tricky with that...

TAM:)

Its kind of sad that a lot of those FAQs are simply put there to appease the twoofers, even though they will not accept the answers no matter how correct they are.

Deleted temporarily because I got the exact search terminology wrong and don't want to mislead, so I'll check again and post it properly shortly.

(ETA: I initially wrote that someone here had pointed out to me months ago the key to searching proficiently by using google and adding "site=randi.org" to the search terms, but I was wrong about that. The correct search parameter to add to a google search is "site:randi.org", which is what the poster here told me months ago, and the error in my initial post was mine entirely, not that of the person who gave me the search parameters. See below.)

Bah, just found it.

Interesting that it wasn't caught in my forum searches.

The forum search function isn't all that great.* As someone here long ago advised, I usually use google search and add "site:randi.org" to the search terms (without the quotation marks) and that seems to work quite well.

For instance, if you went to google and typed in "NIST FAQ site:randi.org" (without the quotation marks), the JREF thread about the recent NIST update would have come up as the first hit.

ETA: Screen shot

*The tag search functionality is very good here, though.

There's also a google option on the drop down "search" menu, near the top of the page, which does the same thing (effectively, it takes you to this page)

Also if you can't remember the site:xxx.xxx option in Google, you can click on the "Advanced Search" link in small print to the right of the search box. This lets you specify lots of things, including the site you want to search.

#1 is interesting, they don't really explain what happens with the core columns, they talk about static weight the floors can handle, but don't explain what happens with the tangling of the core columns etc.
