Edwards' Love Child Scandal?

It's the National Enquirer, so take it with two gallons of salt, but it's certainly a juicy story:

The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively that Rielle Hunter, a woman linked to Edwards in a cheating scandal earlier this year, is more than six months pregnant — and she's told a close confidante that Edwards is the father of her baby!

The ENQUIRER's political bombshell comes just weeks after Edwards emphatically denied having an affair with Rielle, who formerly worked on his campaign and told another close pal that she was romantically involved with the married ex-senator.

Interestingly, the story that is being put out is that another major Democrat is actually the father:

In a statement issued to The ENQUIRER through her attorney, Rielle said: "The fact that I am expecting a child is my personal and private business. This has no relationship to nor does it involve John Edwards in any way. Andrew Young is the father of my unborn child."

Andrew Young? The guy who recently commented that Bill Clinton had slept with more black women than Barack Obama? Perhaps he meant to add that he'd slept with more white women than either of them?

Loads of suspicion that this story was pushed by the Clinton camp, although that would seem a tad reckless and likely to backfire. However, a new Iowa poll released yesterday shows Edwards in the lead, and perhaps just as important, well in the "second-choice" lead (which matters because in Iowa's crazy caucuses, any supporters of a candidate who fail to get 15% in any local caucus, are then required to support one of the other candidates).

My thoughts are that Edwards would have to be crazy to conduct an affair while running for President, but politicians do crazy things all the time. But it certainly indicates that things will get nasty over the next month or two.

Interesting article from several months ago at the Huffington Post on a reporter's attempt to locate some videos that Hunter supposedly did for Edwards' PAC.

What followed was a lesson in the profound irritations of political reporting. A call to Edwards' press shop led to an email to his One America Committee representative, which led, in turn, to a mind-bending exchange about campaign finance law, which culminated in a separate conversation with Edwards' deputy campaign manager Jonathan Prince. Each time I was told that the One America Committee could not use "material that could be considered promoting the presidential campaign," and that Edwards' camp "no longer had access to most of the content."

Thwarted, I tried my hand with the movie's producers. A search for the filmmaker, Rielle Hunter, proved that Google does, in fact, have its limitations. No hits. The same held true with Facebook and Myspace - a bizarre level of anonymity for someone in the movie business.

Young's lawyer says he's the father. Young says he doesn't know her. Young also says he's not himself. But his wife says he is. Of course, Rielle started it by denying she was her. Which is probably easy to do when you're driving a BMW registered to someone else who denies knowing you.

So, that would be a good start - is the BMW registered to Young? (I know if it is, it won't be for long) If that's not true then the NE could be sued and it would be easy to prove through public records. There are too many provable details here for the story to be completely wrong. The NE definitely is on to something here. Going to be fun watching it play out.

Not at all. I definitely see some gay floating around in there. There's nothing wrong with that, of course. It's just that, if you're not gay and you look as gay as John does, then that can become a problem because, you know, some folks don't like the gays.

It's a fairly common rumor, although I have to say that if she was his "beard" it seems odd that they would have married 30 years ago, well before he got into politics. And she was definitely a pretty girl when they married as you can see here:

John Edwards is the father of Jamie Lynn Spears baby, since it apparently wasn't her boyfriend, according to the junior bimbo from Louisiana.

Jamie Lynn Spears, the 16-year-old Zoey 101 star and sister of Britney, told OK! magazine that she's pregnant and that the father is her boyfriend, Casey Aldridge.
"It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected," she said. "I was in complete and total shock and so was he."

He might have had to use some John Edward channeling to get that cradle robbing achieved without missing a beat on the campaign trail, but heck, it's as believable as
