Is Science getting closer to God and the Bible?

Dear DOC,

I can't help noticing that you have either overlooked or conveniently ignored my post from a few days ago where I questioned your assertion of credibility

Well you just mentioned two of the at least 40 verses in this website.

http://www.creationevidence.org/scientific_evid/se_scripture.html

Some of his arguments are obviously stronger than others.

Regarding lightning and rain. Many times I have seen lightning, without it raining. So they're not necessarily dependent on each other (going strictly by observation).

According to Wiki:

"Ice inside a cloud is thought to be a key element in lightning development, and may cause a forcible separation of positive and negative charges within the cloud, thus assisting in the formation of lightning.[6]"

Thus we have the frozen rain in the cloud making (causing) the lightning. So this is similar to what is said in this verse.

Jeremiah 10:13 (King James Version)
13When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

Funny, Jeremiah 10:13 in the bible over here (the Martin Luther bible, revised 1984) reads quite differently.

"Er macht die Blitze, daß es regnet, und läßt den Wind kommen aus seinen Vorratskammern."

This reads like "he makes lightning, so that it rains."

In other words: here, the lightning seems to cause the rain, and not rain being the cause for lightning.

"With", in this sense, would far more likely mean "at the same time as". Have you looked at the word used in the original language?

On a slight derail, I was disturbed by that last passage. I then realised that I'd misread the last word as trousers.

Why do you {joobz} assume that said god enjoys "such evil?

Along those same lines, according to this verse, He doesn't enjoy it.

2 Peter 3:9

King James Bible
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Well, this website says that lightning can indeed cause rain.

What Causes Rain? Job 38:26, 27 reveals that lightning causes rain! But science didn’t agree until 4000 years later when, in 1964, it was discovered that the discharge of lightning, particularly bolts that travel from the earth up to the clouds, changed the electrical polarity of rain droplets, causing them to coalesce as raindrops and fall to the earth. Tests show that without this electrical charge, these droplets simply ricochet off one another harmlessly.

Hmmm, an omnipotent God that is not willing to let something happen, but lets it happen.

I think my brains are oozing out of my ears! :boggled:

I notice DOC ignored my entire analysis of his game.

I find it funny that fundementalists discount eovlution because
"It's not complete, or accurate enough for them."
Yet are fully willing to belieive the bible knew all of science when it has the most vague references to science that you must stretch your imagination to even understand what they are going on about.

The double standard is simply another example of their hipocracy.

I'm really starting to wonder about DOC's mental stability. I've encountered people like him on Crevo subforums and there just seems to be such a disconnect from reality with what people like him have posted. He's a classic example of a Poe since I can no longer tell if he's for real or just a troll who is amazingly committed to his ruse.

Wow! When you want factual information on science, you go to "voicefortheunborn.com"?

You know that DOC doesn't give a **** about the veracity of his sources. As long as it starts with http:// it is a valid source of "information" to him he "puts out there" for others to read.

i'm sorry. Do you have anything interesting to add?
Going by the conspicuous absence of ANY relevant information in support of the woo camp (in regard to addressing the question in the OP), I doubt if anyone has anything to add that wasn't comprehensively covered in post#2
Ha ha ha ha ha!

One of the claims is that precipitation was unknown at the time the bible was written. Yeah, like it never rained back then.

Ooh and snow was unheard of.

And cavemen! Wait, I thought fundamentalists didn't believe in cave men.

This site really is too funny.
